Heghead, I'm seeing the parentheses problem as well. Tracks that have parenthesised text at the beginning of the trach name come up as "Terminal". Is the problem that you're replacing [] but not () in your NameFixed lines? I tried to fix it in AppleScript but it wouldn't let me run it after I re-compiled the main.scpt.
You're right!! I remember noticing this problem and I swear I had fixed this in one edition, however I must not have saved the changes because I can't see it at all!!
Good news is, I've fixed it now

I don't know if this is possible or not, but I would really wish for some way that we could know about updates in the off chance that this thread (or a related one) stops getting updates. I would rather not have to manually check if at all possible.

I'm working on a new version which disables notifications when iTunes is playing a video. This should solve your problem.

I would LOVE to, however there are a few things getting in the way:
- The iTunes and Spotify logos are copyrighted, and I really like the look of using the actual app icons. I guess I could part with them if I had to though... lol
- The Mac Developer membership is too expensive
- I don't have the knowledge required to upload an app onto the AppStore and keep it maintained (with updates etc..). I've never done anything like that before...
If there is anyone out there who has a developer account and thinks they can help solve some of these problems, please PM me

Is it possible to have the last 5, 10 or 20 Recent Items to be enable so you could have a mini history list in Notifications and not just the current song?

I see that the notification shows again when you pause and immediately play again or rewind the song, is that the intended behaviour? Or is there a way to make the notification only show for new songs? Or when you resume play from a long pause or something. I'm probably nit-picking haha and this might not be possible with Applescript.
This is just an Applescript container that feeds playing track info into Notification Center. For there to be new keyboard shortcuts, Last.fm integration etc. you would need a full blown coded application, like Coversutra or Bowtie like you use.

iTunification
I have created a similar app. It uses less CPU since it is not a loop checking for current song. Normally between 0.0% and 0.2% of the CPU.

Icon Changer for Now Playing
Hey everyone,
Now Playing is a great app i like it and use it very often. Because of that i wanted to change the Icons of the Notifications for iTunes & Spotify. Because the files are not easy to find I wrote a little Automator Program which can change the icon easily. You'll be prompt choose the Icons first for iTunes and then for Spotify. I liked nyolc8's Icon so i created booth a iTunes and a Spotify Icon. In the attachment are the app and the two icon files. But leave the icon name the same because if you change them it won't work. Have fun!
Edit: I localized the program in english. Hope it works with the paths now on an other system with different language settings too.
