no. a .sys file or whatever they are lol. Also, it was in the Windows text editor, not textedit.
okay, that makes more sense, haha

so if i don't see any device in that, i can assume isight is not installed correctly, correct?
That is how it's supposed to work in XP, and I suspect they didn't change it much for Vista.

mine didn't work... eject key still not, brightness control still not

what version of the apple driver disk were you using... i tried to extract the 1.1, i just can't get the AppleCDEject thing out... i even tried on my ibm PC, there is no appleCDeject from the apple driver... now, i give that i didn't succesfully install the thing for keyboard

but i just can't successfully install the mac driver for xp, it hangs over a fatal error, help?

update:
extracted drivers from both 1.1 and 1.02, found applecdeject in 1.02, but doesn't seem to do anything

found same brighness.exe, doesn't do anything either

isight still not working

provided that during installation of both 1.1 and 1.02 the normal way, a
Error -1603. Fatal error during installation
appears.

bluetooth installed correctly, but did not test it
sound is good

How did you get it to install correctly because Device Manager does not even detect.

I did not find any AppleCDEject.exe anywhere, I placed Brightness.exe, arc.exe, and KbdMgr.exe in my start up and did not get any to work.

Before however, when I was fooling around with drivers, after clicking on brightness.exe it popped out on my taskbar, but after I restarted, it did not work again.

Open AppleCDEject then click the eject button ;)

If that doesnt workthen why the hell is my computer so special? lmao

i installed bluetooth with the 1.1, but the problem is there is no device detected...

and no, brightness and eject and isight still not work

Where is AppleCDEject? I can't find it in any of the extracted files.

I installed Apple Keyboard Support but that seems to be a waste of time.

from what i've found out, extract 1.02 driver can gt you the applecdeject.exe in /Macintosh Drivers for Windows XP/System32, but the extract of 1.1 does not contain the file anywhere.

apple keyboard support doesn't seem to do much for me...

it's weird, everything works fine in XP... didn't know the driver needs that much changes...

Then I dont know why my computer had the eject button working  Did you try holding the eject button down for like 5 seconds?
Anyways, thanks mkrishnan!

can you tell me what built of vista are you using, also what version of mac driver did you use to extract everything?
did you install with the disk before manually run applecdeject.exe(is it even the right thing you used?)
also did you ever get the fatal error message?

for ppl who got that msg, what's your solution?

can you attach the AppleCDEject.exe and Brightness.exe that you were using?

Update: yes, eject button works! you just have to hold it a bit longer. the file to activate is in the extract of 1.02 driver disk \MacDrivers\System32\AppleCDEject.exe

Well I remember exracting 1.02 files but I thought I deleted those files before I did 1.1 (guess not :p) IM HAPPY TO HEAR CD EJECT WORKS!!! lol Anyways, I had Pre-RC1 build. I still need to "buy" RC1 :p

Anyone know where I can find 1.02?
i dont know if you can still, but attached is the System32 folder from the macdriver disk... in there you can find the AppleCDEject.exe (for sizing requirement, i deleted the Brightness.exe, since it doesnt work anyway)

(i also copied the stuff from system32 folder of the 1.1 disk in to the real system32 folder from C:\windows\ ... but i dont know if it makes a difference)

make sure after you run applecdeject.exe, you have to hold the eject button for a few seconds (yeah, as virtualball put, 5 is a good number)

Eject working, but thats it

Thanks for the file, eject now works.

Loaded the isight driver and Vista recognizes it and says it is running correctly, but it is not working with yahoo messenger. Also, Photoboof won't even start.

I have a macbook pro, is there any way to right click? I have a pilotmouse bluetooth kensington mouse, and although vista see's it, it doesn't have a driver for it. I tried downloading the kensington software for xp but still no go.

Volume and Brightness buttons of course don't work.

Other than that though, everything seems to be running smooth. Very fast. Now I have an excuse to buy Oblivion.

Thanks for the work everyone.

for right click, extract the drivers from 1.1 and open the system32 folder, and copy the arc.exe and arc.dll (or anything with arc (apple right click) files) into windows\system32

(and make sure you put both applecdeject and arc files into the startup folder...)

and in order to right click, hold the apple key immediately to the right of spacebar, and well, click

have yet to find brightness and volume control.
and drivers wise... yeah, a lot of drivers that work with xp arent working in vista... but i bet they'll come out w/ the right drivers... oh yeah, anyone used the apple supplied x1600 driver? it tells me that is not compatible, so i downloaded the ati driver for vista, worked beautifully

Almost there

I installed the 1.1 boot camp drivers.. got some issues.. followed instructions from first post and everything appears to work.. cd eject, sound, isight appears to exists.. but doesnt work
tried it with messenger and photoboof.

How to get Brightness to work in Vista on MacBook and MacBook Pro

First you will need to locate the Brightness.exe file which is in the system32 folder of the extracted mac drivers. Once you find it you will want to right click on it and go into properties and then compatability and set it for XP PRO 2. Then you will need to create a shortcut of this item and place it into the startup folder. You will also need to make sure that windows does not block this program when you startup. The user account control blocked it on every reboot so I just disabled that feature. If anyone knows how to allow an unverified driver/application to not be held up with the user account control please let me know. Hope this helps some. Hoping to get the isight working somehow. IS there any way to get the keyboard to light up? Or am I just dreaming.

Not to be a pain, but none of this seems to work for me,...is it because I'm trying in Vista RC2?

I extract as noted, but it only seems to create 4 directories

-ATI Graphics
-NVIDIA Graphics
-realtek
-SigmaTel

My Vista RC2 install already shows Apple Keyboard support, and the eject key works, but my Right Apple Key - Click doesn't give me right mouse button support, and that is a big thing for me.

I would also like to get Isight to work, but I can't even find it in the device manager, much less try to install a driver for it for the extracted folder...

any ideas???
