I think the OP was trying to help people get past the glitches, bugs, lag, hitches, frame drops as well as a depleted battery. I applaud him because it is called optimizing and tweaking which is a known practice in any other OS category!

Reason being is because these so called "under the hood performance improvements.... and bla bla bla metal API used in everything - Apple) is causing IOS9 to run like crap on older hardware to now include A8 and under. Even my mini 4 is having same problems as majority of users with IOS9. Unfortunately I cannot role it back to 8.4.1, if I could the thing would be a speed demon like the iPhone 6 before being hampered by IOS9.

Today my mini 4 wanted to install IOS 9.0.2 without my permission, options were upgrade now, and upgrade later, no other option available.

I think its working ok although issues galore with IOS9, I like build 340 on it the GM version. I am afraid to update even higher!

Thanks for taking efforts in compiling this list.
If someone is looking to maximize the battery life, it's nice to have possible options listed here. It's handy when someone wants to tinker with it.

Assuming you have a freshly restored or new iDevice follow the steps below. If you are having serious battery issues I recommend restoring your device in iTunes and choosing the option to "Setup as New".

1. Settings > WiFi > Disable Ask to Join Networks

2. Settings > Cellular > Enable LTE > OFF

3. Settings > Cellular > Go all the way to the bottom > Turn OFF Wi-Fi Assist

4. Settings > General > Spotlight Search > Turn OFF everything there

5. Settings > General > Handoff & Suggested Apps > Turn OFF everything there

6. Settings > General > Accessibility > Reduce Motion > ON

7. Settings > General > Background App Refresh > switch it OFF

8. Settings > General > Date & Time > Turn OFF Set Automatically

9. Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Make sure all apps are set to "Never" or "While Using". Go to Share My Location and make sure it is OFF. Then go back to Location Services and go down to System Services and turn OFF everything there except for Find my iPhone/iPad/iPod.

10. Settings > Privacy > Motion & Fitness > Turn OFF Fitness Tracking

11. Settings > Privacy > Diagnostic & Usage > Check OFF Don't Send

12. Settings > Privacy > Advertising > Turn on Limit Ad Tracking, then press Reset Advertising Identifier

13. Settings > iCloud > Turn OFF anything here you don't use. I recommend turning OFF iCloud Drive, Everything in Photos, News, and Wallet.

14. Settings > App and iTunes Store > Turn OFF everything here.

15. Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data > Tap on anything here besides iCloud and set it to Manual.

A bit extreme!! Why am I buying a new iPhone if I'm turning off so many features. Yes some are a waste but not all. It varies by what each person uses.

Personally don't see the need i have all these turned on and simply ensuring certain apps don't use background refresh i can use my phone all day; streaming audio, playing games and the usual social networking apps and i can easily last the full day. im testing to see how long i can last without recharging and its been nearly 1 1/2 days and im still on 56% battery life.

Quick question what's the use of disabling all the above and claiming your using your smart phone to your leisure?
I don't think so....

I have everything on and linked to an Apple Watch, will be un-plugged from 6am and not charged until 23:00 by this point its down to 20% (give or take) if that's not good enough, I don't know what is.

If need be just put battery reserve on, its why its there...

Good lord.... someone tries to HELP other users on here and all they get is a bunch of grief.

Thanks for putting the list together OP. While I won't do *everything* on it, I'm going to go ahead and use my brain and only implement the things that I know won't impact my daily activities -- some of which, I've already done (since my first iPhone). If there's something I'm not sure about, I'll be sure to either leave it alone or use this google.com thing to help me figure out what the setting is/does and whether I want to tinker with it. I like to consider myself an independent optimist.

Thanks again!

This is a great piece of info, thanks OP for putting it together.

To like 99% of people in this thread, IT'S NOT FOR YOU SO ****.

Nobody cares if you don't like it or it doesn't apply to you.

This is for people, like myself who want to turn off features that would extend my battery life to the fullest. In my OPINON the things that are turned off in this guide, are for the most part crap features that just waste battery life and do not benefit ME.

So again thank you OP, F the haters, keep up the good work, the silent appreciators of GOOD INFORMATION thank you.

So, several days ago I "upgraded" my 4s from iOS 9.0.2 to 6.1.3 and you can see the battery life from screenshot.

I can barely get 4.30 hours of usage from both 4s and 5s on iOS 9. This got me really curious. How many hours do you get from your 5s, 6, 6+, and 6s-es on iOS 9?

So that's with just wifi (mostly in the same place) and playing music?

Why'd sentence your 4S to death? :p

Anyway I get around 6 hrs of usage with my 6 with 15 hrs or so standby

Until how many percent of battery? I personally judge screen time until 10% of battery left (I got 4.5 hour on 4s & 5s).

On totally unrelated note, the 4s prompt me to upgrade, but to iOS 8.4.1. Does this mean 6 and 6+ would be downgrade to iOS 8 in the future? (Just like 4s)

6 hours of usage when my phone shuts down but I am not using low power mode.My phone becomes unbearably laggy when I use it.I did around 30 minutes of gaming and the balance on web browsing, emails and switching between news apps etc. This is on WiFI.If I use LTE/4G it's even less

iPhone batteries are really not good tbh.My coworker's Xperia Z3 compact goes through two whole days on moderate usage

I had the Xperia Z3. Battery was awesome for week. I must have only charged it 3 times. However after that I got some wierd Google Play Services battery drain and it barely lasted 1 day. Spent ages trying to figure out which app was causing it (Google Photos) only to have it return few days later. Finally ended up selling the phone and going back to my iPhone 5. Yes, the battery is not very good but it consistently lasts 1 day easily if I turn off all these extra features that were added in iOS7+. The iPhone 5 was designed for iOS6 where all these fancy features didn't exist so it's useful for me to know what to turn off.

I typically get 48 to even 80+ hrs standby on my 6+. I'm not too worried about making it last longer, it's amazing how it is with not turning anything off. My problem is that sometimes I go to the battery pane in settings after nearly two days of use and it tells me that the stats will be available after I use the phone awhile.

How did you downfrade to 6.1.3? Please tell me! I want to do that.

If you want your mobile battery gives long life. just do some changes when It is not in use.
1. put on Silent mode
2. Put brightness low
3. Always put on charging, when percentage is 10% and remove your charge after 100%.(do not put after 100%).
While brightness can certainly make a difference, the first and third items really won't make a noticeable difference (if any at all). The third item isn't what's needed or recommended in any case.
