What is the deal with the lock screen and phone calls? WHen its time to end the call, you've got to unlock the phone and then navigate your way into the phone app. Its crazy. Is there something that i need to change, or is there something i am missing?

I've been having the same prob. Quite a PITA. Wonder if this is a bug or if there's some setting that needs to be changed...although I haven't made any changes that would effect that (at least not to my knowledge) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Are you talking about when you are using speakerphone or a headset (or Bluetooth)? Given that normally when you just use the phone by your ear the end call button would be there when you pull the phone away from your ear (and the lock/sleep button can end the call too).

Then the call screen should be right there with an end call button when you pull the phone away from the ear and the screen comes on. Is that not what you see?

Sometimes yes sometimes no. I'll pull it away from my ear and when the screen turns on the phone is locked. It's weird. Never happened til recently (iOS 10.0.2-ish).

I have had this problem, especially when I go from BT or CarPlay back to my ear (get out of the car while staying on the call). When I eventually go to hang up, I have the lock screen. I have to unlock it in order to hang up.

Yeah, that's odd. Shouldn't be like that when the phone is used by the ear basically.

When the screen is locked like that do you see call information at the top (the name/number and call timer)?

Yes I do see name and call timer but no buttons to end the call. It's really weird. Since 10.1 it hasn't happened, even though it was just released, so we'll see what happens.

I've had it the say way as you, but most often I see my locked screen image, with no call info.

If you see the name/number and call timer at the top just tap on that and it should take you right to the call screen. It doesn't quite answer why it's happening to begin with, but at least it should be a faster way to get to it all (vs unlocking the phone and all that).

I've noticed the same thing lately. Not sure what the fix is, because pressing the Power button just turns off the screen.

Another issue that is similar to this. Why is it sometime in a call, if you hit the power button it hangs up, other times it simply turns off the screen (when in BT/carplay mode)...

I don't know how many times I've had to call people back, when all I was trying to do was shut off the screen and place it back in my cup holder (in my truck).

The screen shuts off if you are using speakerphone or a headset or something other than just the earpiece of the phone basically. If you are using the earpiece (to talk on the phone by your ear basically) then the button will hang up the phone (similar to how it can be used to decline a call when it rings).

This has not always been the case with CarPlay. Sometimes it will simply stay on until you hang up the phone. Have you used CarPlay?

I'll give that a try the next time it happens. Thanks for the heads up

That the screen will shut off when using speaker phone or headset... It has not always been the case in my experience. It will someone's, while others it will not.

You are saying that when you press the lock/sleep button while using speakerphone or a headset it won't turn the screen on/off and will do something else?

Yes. There are times it will hang up the phone.

If I start a call with Siri this happens afer the phone auto-locks based on the time specified in the Settings.app. I'll take a screenshot next time it happens.

Hey Guys

Thanks for chiming in on my thread. The problem just happened again and I was able to catch a screen shot. So, I was on a FaceTime audio call using speaker phone. One picture is what the call screen looks like when I go to hang up, the next screen is what is brought up when I click the home button. You'll also see that I'm spending too much time speaking to my dad and my business partner lol.

That's more or less how speakerphone and headset calls behave with iOS 10.

If/when you see the locked screen and the name/number and call timer at the top just tap on that and it should take you right to the call screen.
