That's more or less how speakerphone and headset calls behave with iOS 10.

If/when you see the locked screen and the name/number and call timer at the top just tap on that and it should take you right to the call screen.

That's what I had heard, but it's not working on mine. I'm going to try to press harder the next time this happens

Odd. Usually just a single tap on that name/number at the top of the lock screen does the trick.

This also happens to me, but after using force touch to call back on the missed call notification. When i want to hang up, i have to unlock the phone, tap on the green bar and hang up. Bad design, probably just an oversight. Hopefully, at least.

Have you tried taping on the call information displayed at the top of the screen (before unlocking and all that)?

I am having a similar issue, however my biggest complaint is with the fact that when the phone is plugged in, the screen no longer (since ios 10) stays on during a phone call. I make a lot of conference calls with the phone in a dock, and through iso 9, the screen would dim but stay on, so i would have full use of controls. Now the screen locks and i'm fumbling to unlock to enter access numbers, add callers, etc. So annoying.

I had the same issue the other day. I was playing Star Wars Commander (in case the previous app is causing it) and left iPhone on table for a while causing the screen to turn off. I got a phone call, talked to them, and when I went to hang up I had to unlock iPhone, press the home button to get out of SWC, then tap on green banner to get to the phone call and hang up.

Annoying.

And so is having to switch back to characters after switching to symbols while I was typing this. Is this standard? Doesn't happen in Messages.

Just wanted to let you (and anyone else for that matter) that tapping on the call info DOES show the controls to end a call. Thanks for pointing that out

This has been happening for me lately and I'm thinking since it happens inconsistently it must be a bug. Sometimes when I'm done with a call I have the usual end call button to push, sometimes it's not there. I thought it had to do with the phone being locked when I got the call but I just received one while my phone was locked and I did have the end call button. Strange

Just being on the call using the earpiece by the ear?

Having the same issue. I thought it might have been due to using a previous backup from my iPhone 6 on the 7. Rebuilt the phone from scratch and same issue. Sometimes after a call, everything works fine, however lately after a call my screen doesn't even light up after a call or mid call, so I tap on screen and eventually lights up and it's at the lock screen. Quite annoying, never had this issue before switching to iPhone 7. Not sure it's if iOS or ip7 issue.

Might be issue issue with the proximity sensor, I'm gonna make an appointment with the Genius Bar and see what they say.
