Yanno, it might be possible by emulating an x86 system using QEMU on a Linux/PPC host.
With the idea of 10.6 I dont say it will be done, I just try it and maybe come up with a totaly new version of OS X some breed of 10.6 and 10.5 but as always I dont have much time to spare. I will eventualy inform about what I accomplished.

Performance-wise, I'm pretty sure the 10.5 / 10.6 hybrid is just the end result of AuroraTrimcelerator + Monolingual.

I may be talking nonsense, but is there a chance of compiling any of SL's open-sourced components for ppc to update Leo?

Yes if the source code exists then it can be done. When I get home I will see what can be done. Now I am at work and I dont even have time to go to the toilet.

Working on the 10.6 for PPC with my PowerBook G4 and my girlfriends MacBook Pro. Also I tried all available bootrom patchers to allow me to swap the CPU for 7448 but they dont work.

Quick update: I was working on Java 1.8 for PPC but it doesnt work because it uses some code from a newer version of Power microcode. Sorry for that. And for those who want to play newer Minecraft with my Java versions I found a solution, the launcher opens and lets me select a version of the MC but when I play start it crashes at “No suitable LWJGL library”. Im trying to compile a newer version for it because it seems possible.

Some of you were asking me to tell how I got Java 1.6 and Java 1.7 to work on PowerPC OS X 10.5, but I would rather tell you how to easily get it on your own PPC Mac.

Download the file I prepared:

1. Download both the above file containing Java 6 and 7, and the Java Updater below.

2. Unzip both "java 6 and 7.zip" and "Java Updater.zip".

3. Drag the "java 6 and 7" folder to your Desktop.

4. Open up a terminal, and drag "Java 6 and 7 Installer.sh" into your terminal window.

5. Hit Enter, enter your password, and watch it fly.

6. Once it's finished installing Java 6 and 7, drag "Switch to Java 6.sh" or "Switch to Java 7.sh" into the terminal window, depending on what version you require. Hit Enter, then input your password if asked.

If you want to revert back to the Leopard's default Java 5, do the same with "Switch to Java 5.sh".

Don't hesitate to give feedback how it's working, and if you have any questions feel free to ask!
That was mad easy! Thank you for the clean, straightforward instructions! Worked perfectly and I had been searching through several sites that were way overcomplicated! Thanks!

Here is some WIP (not mine) which might be functional: https://github.com/nilsvanvelzen/mac_ppc_openjdk8u60

hey so i tried to install Java 6 using your method but for whatever reason it didn't seem to work and java preferences no longer opens up any idea on how to fix this?

Hey! Nice to see someone using my Java, I thought I am long forgoten person here! Well, the prefpane doesnt open when using Java 6 and 7 hence why the scripts. I never really tackled the issue why tho. I went to upgrading daughterboard CPUs and now my PPC Macs are all dead and no PPC Mac are for sale in my country I cant do ANY sort of work. Just use the scripts and the Java version will run just fine.

That is sad.
I hoped you may help with Java 8. It builds presently quite far, but fails at AWT libs due to missing SDK features and MacOS Java frameworks.
