How to reformat a memory stick in Mac OSX SL?

How to reformat a memory stick in Mac OSX SL? Because I have a 128MB empty memory stick, yet it says there is only 5.2MB free, and when I try to copy a 17MB file to it, it says it won't fit.

How do I reformat it completely so it fixes?

Hello again, it appears that now the memory stick works fine on my MacBook Pro but not my iBook. Hmm, what sort of formatting do you think I'd need to get it to work on the iBook?

I'll try Mac OS extended - My iBook is running 10.0.4. I know, not the best OS

In the disk utility it says that the format is: MS-DOS (FAT16)

You can select the format you want from a dropdown menu, however every time I select "Mac OS extended" from the dropdown menu there is no way to save it or anything - And when I quit disk utility and open it back up again, the format is still MS-DOS (FAT16).

How do I change it from MS-DOS (FAT16) to Mac OS extended?

This may be your problem. Up until 10.2, OS X has some issues with USB devices. FAT16 should work with your computer just fine.

i would also check the partition format. more recent mac oses use guid format, but an ibook may require apple partition map. this is separate of the volume format, which should be hfs or hfs journaled. (hfs+ / hfs+ journaled can be used as well)

Yep. The wrong partition table can cause all sorts of woes. Try Apple Partition Map as he suggests, unless of course you need to be able to transfer to a PC.
