Back in December, I used some tool or TV app thing to force my 7 Plus to stay on 10.1.1 hoping I would get the gamma / stable JB release. But that never came three months later.

So how do I undo this forced 10.1.1 thing ? I can't find the app I used, I thought it was come tv or remote control app or something that allowed the phone to think it';s always up to date.

It's probably the AppleTV profile.

Settings App>General>Profiles>delete the profile.

PS. If it were me, I'd connect the phone to iTunes and restore/upgrade from there rather than OTA updating on the device.

Well, if you're planning to go to 10.3 anyway, why not give the 10.1.1 JB a go. It's actually really stable once you
  1. Reload Substrate
  2. Run substrate fix
Those were what was giving me problems on my 7Plus. Obviously there are the MTerminal commands to fix iMessage and what not, but that's easy peasy.

Worst case scenario is that things go tits up and you have to go up to 10.3, which you were ready to do anyway...

Thx for the input, but I said F it, since no stable JB for the iPhone 7 ( that's been out for 6+ months ) I gave up on waiting. Downloading 10.3 as typing this.

My next phone will without a doubt be the Pixel 2.

Very sad the JB scene is pretty much dead and nothing like rooting and ROM'ing on Android. The iPhone 7 the popular best iPhone out currently, doesn't even have a rock solid stable JB available. Too bad really.

Semi-untethered jailbreaks are one of the major reasons I am still on 9.0.2 on my iPhone 6s+ with a fully untethered jailbreak.

Yeah it's a shame. I'm highly annoyed every week having to redo the jailbreak. It only takes a few seconds, but then I have to troubleshoot the phone for a few minutes to get it working just right. Not the end of the world, but still annoying. Luca officially quit jailbreaking today, so there most likely won't be much happening in the future. Part of the issue with JBing dying is the lack of support. Most apps aren't updated, or you have to hack them to work and then they are unstable. Devs disappear overnight and don't support their apps, but I can't blame them there must be very few jailbroken customers left. Even on these forums the jb topics are dead ghost towns, and no one seems to want to help.

The 10.1.1 JB was pretty stable, although it still has it's fair shares of issues. For me the only things left to want jb are dark theme and some kind of control over things like control center and notifications. I'm really putting my faith in Apple to release a dark theme with iOS11, enough is enough. But I hate running without security updates and such, so I will most likely be unjailbreaking and going to 10.3 this weekend, sigh.

The pixel 2 will definitely be a contender for me, but it depends on if Google puts out something meh like the pixel 1, or if they truly bring a "flagship" product this time around.

I have a few rules I follow when jailbreaking, I make minimal demands on the devices I use and I have more than one device for specific purposes.

All of that has coalesced to allow me to stay jailbroken fully untethered on at least two devices. For the forseeable future I do not plan on going away from Apple. But that may change in nine months when we (my wife and I) are in the market for new phones.

If we go with Apple I hope that things will have changed in a way that allows me to deal with potentially not being jailbroken. Apple has a habit of implementing JB tweaks in half-measures rather than as they really should be implemented.

But we shall see. I have no problem with leaving Apple devices for other manufacturers. I am and never have been tied to Apple's ecosystem because I made it a point NOT to be. That was particularly easy to do when Apple wasn't supporting PowerPC Macs to begin with, but I digress.

My wife doesn't care one way or the other. We shall see.

I remember op

Just bite the bullet and jb 10.1.1 it's not that tricky and not really unstable like some people exaggerate

Probably too late by now…

Noooo!!!!!

Haha all good. If I came from android I'd absolutely be put off by the walled garden but different strokes some people find it refreshing

10.3 supposedly has faster and smoother animations so perceived performance has gone up, as a plus

I bit the bullet been on 10.3 since yesterday. Few observations;

- Battery life seems even better on this 7 Plus now. It was already AMAZING but now seems improved.
- Screen brightness seems turned up or brighter now ? Maybe 10.3 defaults to a higher brightness setting ? But display is even better outdoors.
- Speed, the OS does a feel a hair faster

Overall I am satisfied with this phone. Not glued to tweaking and playing around with the phone nonstop like I did with my Android ROM's has freed up time for me:) But I do miss stock Android, would love to be able to flash CM14.1 on this phone LOL

I hear you on that bro.
Im very discouraged with the way the iPhone JB scene is slowly dying.
I reminisce the good years back when we had plenty of untethered JB's released for most ios updates and for all idevices. Tons of very nice and useful JB packages that made the iphone experience 10 times better than stock.
For the past year or so its just some flaky semi tethered half rushed JB's for some devices on certain versions and if you try to install them you have to jump through 100 hoops to even try to maintain them and function normal.
Its pointless and I rather stay stock than deal with that BS.
Hope this changes down the road but I dont really see much light at the end of the tunnel unfortunately :(

Nah JB always better than none!

The 10.1.1 really hasn't been that bad,

Personal preference tho, and I don't like that JB scene is a dying breed either :(

Luca quitting is a massive blow. He revived 9.3.3 and is responsible for all iOS 10 fun

A grim outlook ahead, unless Pangu or some team pulls some tricks

You do save a lot of time not tinkering, but i enjoy it, and if I'm not tinkering (and waiting) I'm obsessively refreshing this sub forum and reddit haha

I have a disease/addiction

And the smart me should never buy another iDevice until it can get cracked (if it can)

I think a few years from now, if this continues, we'll look back and see that the first domino to fall was BiteSMS.

I dont know bro, after all these years Im starting to lose faith :(
A while ago this section would be booming with tons of threads and posts every day. About new hacks, new jailbreaks, questions, requests and all sorts of fun things to do to our idevices.
Now its a ghost town since there's nothing happening.

6s/6s plus 9.0.2 untether JB was a true treat.

Unknown outlook, and a drop 1 month after release

I went insane (in a good way)

9.3.3 was painful, but do-able since i had my devices JB'en and wasn't holding my breath

IOS 10 wait and uncertainty was INCREDIBLY painful. On 7+ Waiting 3 months after selling 6s plus to pay for half of it. Even with an SE on 9.3.3

Sigh

The windows for JB is tough these days, but the tweaks are plentiful I can assure you

I have my devices perfectly config'd,

Having an all-in-one CC instead of separate panes (called Horseshoe, the tweak)

Is amazing!

Dont remind me of that. :D
Its like bringing up a topic about a hot ex girlfriend that you still have feelings for but she left you suddenly not to be seen again for years.
All you have is great memories and a few pictures of her laying around inside the back of draw hidden somewhere :D

iOS 8. It never got updated because the lead developer abandoned the company.

You're very lucky, that early iOS JB iPhone is worth its weight in gold;)
No, not so lucky (I wish). That's my 6s+. I just changed the Messages icon is all. iOS 9.0.2. ;)

Also swapped the Mail icon for Entouragre 2008 as you can see to the left. :D

I will be updating my phone from 10.1.1 jailbroken to 10.3 today. Although I have not experienced any issues other than the gif images needing to be reset periodically - done by resetting the network. I used 3 main tweaks on my jailbroken devices

DisturbPlease - Developer not even responding to tweets asking if he will update to ios 10

Pandora++ - not available so I started paying for Pandora plus @$4.99

Photoalbums+ - Developer not even responding to tweets regarding asking if he will update the tweak to ios 10

While I would LOVE to clear out my camera roll. I hate the camera roll Apple. I want to try the theater mode on my watch

I hear you.
Also the reason why many Devs are not responding or updating their hacks is because the JB is not so widespread. He literally released the JB after the particular ios version was not signed any longer.
So the amount of people right now on JB devices with this semitethered version is very small compared to before.
So only those that stayed on older firmware or had the pleasure of not messing up the JB and getting stuck on ios version that has no available jb.
So its hard to work and update your JB packages work if you dont even have a JB device.
For all other releases the jailbreak was released for the latest firmware that is out and signed by Apple and for all devices including the latest iphone release.
Now its not really the same way.

I don't have an Apple Watch, but I do have Do Not Disturb and DisAlarm attached to my mute switch via Activator.

Mute the phone and I get complete silence, including silencing alarms (because of DisAlarm).

Honestly I think this is a misnomer/misinformation. I can understand your logic here, but its not reality.

Ryan Petrich is on updates. Same with David Goldman color banners and color flow dude. And same with Ma Jun who does a virtual home and zephyr equivalent, essentials.

Eclipse and typestatus iOS 10 builds work too. And no slow animations since day1 worked

Not sure what much more one could want?

Saurik is on a 64-bit Cydia too, and cydia impactor updates to side load the IPA jb, and Extender to supposedly re-sign from the device but might require dev account and haven't tried or read much on it... but I have a 1-yr cert for all my devices so didnt need to look into it.

This tweak is amazing too, Horseshoe. all-in-one CC

And theres unify which I haven't tried yet but is supposed to combine notification panes to look more seamless and like one continuous one separated by apps, not individual notifications. These are iOS 10 specific tweaks with iOS 10 design in mind,

Theming even works but I'm treading lightly on SE and 7+, not gonna put it on iPad. Also, using an early build Anemone that works so I won't dare roll the dice updating,
