It is of interest to me - I use the iPad 90 percent of the time and my Mac 10 percent of the time - I think jailbreaking is not something advisable and there are alternatives that work for 99 percent of the users out there - it's a shame you are so narrow minded in your statements.

Jailbreaking is great for the few that need it, but don't put a blind eye towards the other alternatives.

(I prefer being able to update to iOS updates right away and having stable iPads - I've had several jailbroken experiences where crashing and headaches were a common thing)

there are 1000's of people who jailbreak with no issue & love it. you're telling this dude to not to put a blind eye yet you're doing the same exact thing by saying jailbreaking is great for the few that need it so i assume you know every iphone owner???

if you don't like it why are you in the jailbreaking forum?

The hootoo tripmate can be used to make any usb device accessible from the ipad, even non-jailbroken. It also has some other cool features. It is sweet and downright better than standalone wifi drives IMO.

as far as apps to interact with the data on the drive:
nplayer can play any media
documents by readdle can display docs/pdfs

the most difficult part is getting the app in question configured to read from the drive, but it works great. and no tethers coming from the device!

the other negative is that while connected to the device, you cannot access the internet from the LTE connection. The hootoo must be connected to another wifi network (must be another device outside of the hootoo's internal wifi) in order to have internet access.

Can it use a 16GB or 32GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive? I'm thinking of ordering it and I only have these 2 flash drive so I wan't to know if I need to order a USB 2.0 16GB or 32GB, or if my USB 3.0 drives will work with it. Thanks

I actually don't have any USB 3 drives and can't test that for you :(

I would imagine they'd be fine at USB 2 speed but no promises!

I noticed that the drive showed up eventually in iFile after automatically mounting. I have two questions:

1- Will this work on a jailbroken iPhone (also using iFile) ?
2- What are the commands to manually mount a drive like this from the command line interface?

Thank you
