It a diagnostic app that tells you what’s working and what’s not working. Performance, battery, antenna, etc.

It should tell you the condition your battery percentage is bad, good, or great.
can you provide the link in the Appstore? I have Apple Support installed on various iDevices - and it does not do diagnostics - at least not user facing.
 
Want to replace my iPhone 13 battery, is usd$89, no prob.

The issue I have is, as the guy handing me back the phone, HOW DO I VERIFY, on the spot, that they indeed put a new battery in it? the number I would rely on is CYCLE COUNT, but only the iPhone 15 and newer display this number. I see no serious App I can download for this. Ideally it would be something I can download from the STORE but I find nothing. Last resort is, I bring my laptop and run COCONUT BATTERY on it, would the Genius balk at my verification method?

What did, will you do? Is USD90, I don't want a Genius take my money by doing nothing.
we just had the battery replaced on my wife's 13 min, battery health was 78% and when it got handed over to us, battery health showed 100%.
That's good enough for me.

Maybe just open battery setting, and check health. If it’s new it should be between 98-100%. Then you can use coconut battery like others said and check the cycle count. Doing through Apple is fine. Doing it through phone carrier insurance is where you get scammed.
Made a claim with TMobiles Assurant for battery replacement. They said they have to swap devices entirely. They’ll tell you you’re getting a “new battery in a refurbished device” which is complete and intentional lie. First replacement had 85% battery and 600 cycles, so I told them must’ve made a mistake and they need to send the refurbished device they promised. Second device had scratches and gunk all around cameras and battery was 82%. Complained again they sent a 3rd with 83%. Spoke to insurance higher ups with a T-Mobile rep’s help and they admitted they don’t replace the batteries, but insisted their devices are “refurbished.” They told me that’s as good as it’s gonna get so deal with it or go pay Apple myself if I want a new battery and they would not reimburse the cost.
To make the story a bit better, reported it to Apple and they just sent a free pair of AirPods Pro for letting them know about how Assurant is lying to customers faces. :)
 
If you are going to doubt that a legitimate Apple Store replaced a faulty battery with a new one, why put the effort to go into one when you can just go to a third party repair center instead?
I have read horror stories of third party replacing batteries. If you can’t trust Apple buy an Android device. What is the gurantee Apple is selling a new device?
 
Make the Apple tech swear on his mother’s grave, that the battery is new OEM.
What if his mother is alive? That just makes so much more work for the phones owner because you gotta plan super far ahead to ensure there is a grave for him to swear on. For example: hitmen are expensive! Best to just trust Apple.

Is not the corporation, am weary of the "Genius" teen who sits in the window-less back room all day changing batteries and decides, rogue fashion, the existing battery is good enough, still >80% health, leaving it in and the dumb customer won't notice.

Apple the corporation, I sense, rather have me buy a new phone than keep using an old phone, surreptitiously passes along that message to the "crew," Why not show me the cycle count, a black&white metric, why hide it?

If I take along my laptop and run Coconut Battery, am afraid the genius will tell me, "that is not in our procedure" and we know how large corporations love their procedures.

A little paranoid, yes.

If your battery is above 80% health Apple is unlikely to replace it even if you’re willing to pay for it.

Why on earth would Apple lie about replacing your battery? Unless there is something I don’t understand here, this sounds like seriously paranoid behavior…

Anyway. Apple gives you a warranty on the repair job. Take the phone home. If it can’t hold a charge, bring it back to Apple, and show them that it can’t hold a charge. Presumably they will give you a new battery and fire whoever the employee was that tried to defraud you.
 
I don't know. But what I can tell you is Apple changed the battery in my mom's iPhone and the battery life didn't get better. Thanks, software updates.

They have never questioned this for me; all 3 I’ve had done were over 80, the most recent one was at 85% last month. No questions asked, $89.

I believe they won’t cover it above 80% as an AppleCare claim, but out of pocket they absolutely will.
