when was the last time you heard of a macbook denting issue?

I hate to rehash old arguements but it's basically pro users vs macbook apologists. The fact is that a mbp will never dent from daily use whereas macbooks get these cracks from regular use, opening and closing of the case every day. I don't have the source anymore, but there used to be a very good chart about how on a mechanical level the severity and frequency of defects was also higher in consumer machines.

Plastic is stronger than aluminum; when was the last time time you heard "bullet proof aluminum". I have owned about six macbooks and the ones that were cracked had been previously dropped. Having the cases crack has not a problem for me.

I have a 1.83 Core Duo Macbook thats probably over a old, not sure the exact date I got it. But it has a crack on the bottom case on the edge a small strip is cracking off. I honestly don't care to much about it cause this is the best computer i've owned so far. But anyway it did take a year before it happened and has been used quite a bit. I love my Macbook, probably get another one when its time to retire this one. :)

i have a 2.0 ghz blackbook (i'm not entirely sure how that's possible though) and i'm not sure what generation it was because i got it refurbished but the only problem I have with it is the fingerprints all over it but if i took the time to clean it then it would look brand new!

for what its worth, i've had 4 mac portables -- plastic G3, ti and alu and NEVER had a single crack, dent or ding.

Two 3rd Gen Black Macbooks and no cracks.

My friend's 1st Gen White Macbook did have cracks but Apple replaced it.

I know 5 white macbook owners where 4 of them (me included) had the cracking occur to them after 10-12 months use. IMO the macbooks are designed very badly. Purty though.

My Macbook (Description is in the sig) has a crack, in the top case, ive always babied this thing and ive never dropped it and had it for about a year now.
