That's **** if the contact sync doesn't merge with your contacts. What would be good is real choice, the ability to sync from FB only those contacts you already have and sync all. These should merge with your contacts not create more duplicates!

I downloaded a program a few years ago called AddressBookSync that does exactly what you want - it'll only replace/add information onto existing contacts if you prefer. It worked great for people who I had in my Contacts but didn't have a picture for.

This is exactly what the Facebook application does natively. It compares your address book with the names on your friends list and adds information to those who exists in both lists.

Activating Contacts syncing in OS X adds information to all whose names are identical, but adds new contacts to those who doesn't. But merging is super simple in the Contacts app in OS X.

seems like this "patch" is no longer working. when I try to sign in I get "the account couldn't be saved." error.
Looks like I'll have to wait for another month.

i already have it installed and so far ..

Contacts
they are separated from your standard contacts unfortunately and dont even try to "match" with your other contacts which leads to the mess of having many contacts to show up twice now

iCalendar
birthdays show up as well as events
same problem as the "Contacts" - birthdays show up twice because contacts dont "match"

NotificationCenter
not functional yet

Safari etc.
you can share pictures, links etc. to facebook

its basically the same as the twitter integration

good for contacts, dont want to mess up my friends, relatives and colleagues all into one fine mess!

birthdays, no thanks too!

safari share, ok nice :D

to me, it will probably me more like a gimmick. but i might start using fb again if it comes with a neater mac app (in my dreams!)
