Just curious what everyone is planning to do to protect their investment. I see a lot of people pre-ordered the Apple case, but I personally dont like the design. Right now I'm leaning towards a sleeve that I'll only use when the iPad is in my backpack, but I might change my mind before then.

So what are you guys planning on using?

I personally went with Apple's case. It's good looking and doubles as a stand two different ways. It's also pretty much the only option for now.

I'm looking forward to seeing what other options third parties will come up with though.

$10 netbook sleeve right now for, as you said, travel. Maybe I'll get a case when the cheap Hong Kong knock offs start shipping. $40 for a case is nuts -- I don't care how many ways it folds. Plus I like the feel of metal in my hands.

I'm hoping to find a 3rd party leather portfolio that I can carry for work. I've seen a few that zip up and were had a large enough pocket to slide a MBA in, If none are made specifically for it, I'm sure I can find one that works.

I have a 10" netbook case that I had purchased for an Asus netbook I bought and returned last year. I kept the case and figure it should work fine with my iPad. I may eventually get the Apple case when it appears in the stores.

I pre-ordered the WaterField Ultimate Sleeve case. What I like about it (besides the great materials and construction) is that it has a hard insert to protect the screen. Bags made for netbooks wouldn't have one.

I was planning on using my iPad bare. I have a plastic MacBook, so I was wondering, do the aluminum MacBooks scratch easily? Should I considert getting a thin skin type cover for it? I actually don't want a folio type case, and I don't think I need anything that converts into a stand.

Laser guided defense system for the house. Its a bit expensive but worth the extra protection..

Best protection of all...my concealed carry permit.....oh you mean the hardware from damage...:D

I ordered the apple case. $40 is cheap, and I'm pretty happy with the design.

I decided to go the cheap route for now. Bought a protective silicone case and a 10 inch netbook case for a few bucks from Dealextreme.

I'm wondering if a screen protector is important, especially if i'll be using it in home mostly.

I wonder if there will be a big invisibleSHIELD for the ipad.

If they made a screen protector for it and I decided on ipad I'd go with that.

iPad would stay naked though other then screen protector.

I use my iPhone without a case. I used to use a screen protector... but I stopped. I just keep it in my front left pocket, and I never put anything else in there. I think I would prefer scratches than a lousy case... but my front pocket works just fine.

I have a neoprene with microfiber interior case for my MBA that I use when traveling. I only do that because I keep it in the unpadded "paper file" portion of my backpack. My 15" MBP goes naked in the padded computer slot of my backpack.

I did order the Apple case for my iPad for use during travel (in my bag)... but I am not sure that I will use it. I might buy a sleeve instead. I plan to use the iPad without a case whenever it is not packed for travel.

I'll just pick up one of these sleeves.

I'm actually deciding between these two sleeves, funny they are both mentioned. Hmm $30 vs $55 but the waterfield looks so nice...

I prefer the minimal nature of the Booq sleeve, it just slides in/out and will be great for tossing in the messenger bag. No need to have another thing to open, unflap, whatever.

Very true, I plan on bringing my iPad with me to class every day so this would be ideal. Decisions decisions.. Oh well I still have 3 weeks left to decide.

I will keep it under Apple's supervision and since I am not sure, whether I will pay for one, that might be fair.

Apple's case looks like something that will develop cracks around the folding areas. Some leather Manila envelope case would be excellent. In fact, Apple used to sell some.

I'm hoping that Power Support comes out with some nice anti-glare or clear screen protectors for the iPad.
