A serious question, but are there a lot of tablet optimized apps for the 10" Android tablet? It seems like that would be the deciding factor for me. That, and a 16:9 aspect ratio in portrait mode on a 10" tablet just looks funny.

Would be craxy to bring one out if there aren't.

My two cents is the note 10.1 is cool but dated.... The nexus 10 is a sign of tablets to come. I love my note2 and will be holding out for the next version of the note 10.

Something bothers me buying that expensive of a tablet and it has specs lower than my phone.... I kinda expect the tablet to be the powerhouse and my phone to get the job done.

And my two cents between all 3 just quickly....

Apple-ios familiarity, great screen, and great external design

Note 10.1- great concept but dated, low screen resolution, under powered, and the spen is nice, it was awesome when it first came out

Nexus 10- the tablet that was thrown together to show what an android tablet should be. As it stands my personal opinion is with proper apps the nexus 10 is top if you are familiar with android.

If the nexus 10 had spen and external sd I would buy one in a second.... But then that would make it a non nexus device but you get my point.

I am a spec whore and I defend that with high end equipment means long term use ability (most of the time). I don't buy things that are good for now... I buy top of the line so in a few years they are just dated instead of completely obsolete. As of now the note 10.1 is getting dated.

I know it's a tablet but I would love to see a removable battery but I realize that not happening and so I don't really put much thought into that.

Also I think this year will be interesting for Android so unless you need it now... Give it a little time.

I think it's funny how the note 10.1 is described as having a low res screen when it's 720p. I mean it's a hd screen on a 10 inch device! I downloaded 2 films onto it from the play store - one in sd and one in hd - I couldn't tell the difference unless I held the thing right up to my face!
I wouldn't let the 'low res' put you off too much.

I completely agree with you. Gotta love marketing! :)

Not really, they idea is Samsung needs SOMETHING to combat the iPad. However, the reality is that there really aren't many tablet optimized apps for Android after 3 years. They're all phone apps scaled to fit the tablet. It's a catch 22 really. No one's buying Android tabs because there aren't any apps, however there aren't any apps because no ones buying Android tabs. Apple still owns the tablet space with the iPad.

Given that I have populated my Nexus 7 completely with apps with a tablet UI, you're wrong and spreading FUD....

Every review I have seen for the Nexus 10 seems to agree with me. 7" isn't THAT far away from the biggest Android phones(Note II at 5.5") so it's not surprise that the apps look better on that format. I'm not against the Android tablet especially as an owner of an S3, and Nexus 4. Just stating what I've heard from other 10" owners.

When people make that reference to that they are talking about how upscaled phone apps look on the Nexus 7. They are not talking about applications which use the multi-paned tablet interface. (which is what you and I are talking about)

What I'm saying is that my Nexus 7 (and my Xoom prior to that) have been totally populated by tablet apps. Whilst there is nowhere near the range as found on iPad, there is almost always a number of best in each class type apps which do have the tablet UI.

The problem Google faces (and this is 100% their own doing), is that tablet apps are invisible in the Play Store. There is no tablet specific search ability and they are in the same section as they are the same application as the phone app.

On iOS, a tablet version app is a completely separate application in a completely separate section - they are much more visible.

In the end, only Google knows how many tablet UI apps there are.

This application is helpful in discovering them though:

I expect screens to be above 250 ppi..... When I look at a screen I don't want to see any dots or "steps" on curved lines. So resolution can be 720 but for today's standards I view that as the minimum. If they want to price it around 300 I would consider it but not for a 500 price tag.

I have the note and personally I think it's awesome. I ended up getting rid of my ipad 3 because I was always using it instead. Although the screen isn't as good to me it's hardly noticeable unless you're specifically trying to see pixels. The spen is great and being able to watch YouTube while doing other stuff while having a real file system is a huge plus that makes it feel more like a full blown laptop replacement rather than a big phone. With the jelly bean update there's no more lag even when in have multiple apps running. Overall I would give it an A+.
