How would you spend £5000?

Say you had £5000 (call it US$7500) to blow RIGHT NOW on any Apple gear you like...

What would you fill your shopping cart with?
 
Are you asking for buying advice? Do you actually have that money?

Well if so... I would wait for the Mac Pro's to come out, and get the top of the line model, with something equivilent to this Quad G5:

* 2.5GHz Quad-core PowerPC G5
* 4GB 533 DDR2 Non ECC SDRAM- 4x1GB
* 2x500GB Serial ATA - 7200rpm
* QUADRO FX 4500 512MB SDRAM
* Apple Cinema HD Display (23" flat panel)
* Apple Cinema HD Display (23" flat panel)
* AirPort Extreme + Bluetooth built-in
* 16x SuperDrive DL (DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
* Apple Keyboard & Mighty Mouse - U.S English
* Mac OS X - U.S. English
* Accessory kit

That's about $9500 US. When the Mac Pro's come out, i'd get a system like this, except with whatever upgrades they have then.

Sadly not. Purely hypothetical question.

Just interested to hear what everyone's dream set up would be if a wealthy Great Aunt were to pass away in the night.

PS. Realise I got the £-$ exchange rate wrong - but was trying to allow for the kit being that much cheaper in the US.

I'd buy a couple 30" cinema displays (leaving about $2500 of the original $7500 after taxes) and a MBP. Or maybe just three of the 30" displays and call it a day. :)
 
I'd do a Buffett. Buy myself a new iPod and give the rest to the world's poor :)

A second 30" display and the Quadro to drive it.

I'd by an apple since I dont have one!!!

But yeah definitely the Pro Mac! maybe in my dreams they'll have a gig video card if they even have that (for bragging rights of course).

That's a ginormous fan.. it could probably heat one's house. I can just imagine the complaints now..

I have this super expensive video card with a fan as big as my head. It's really loud and hot. Why? What's wrong with it?

No no didn't you hear the new Mac Pro's will be cooled with Liquid Nitrogen... HaHa just kidding (I acctually talked about this possibility in another thread and found a PC that was running 5 GHz this way).

I'd spend it on drink, fast cars, women and then the rest I'd waste...
