Curious how everybody's magic keyboard is holding up, especially the whtie ones over time. Thinking of buying a white one, but a little nervous. How are the individual keys (are the keys getting scratched up) and overall external materials?

I can see some minor wear on the space bar. But you have to really look for it at certain lighting and angles. Otherwise it's difficult to tell. So mine is holding up pretty well. But I'm not typing constantly on it either. My gaming keyboard on the otherhand is got obvious wear spots from playing FPS games. I got white magic keyboard specifically because it's not backlit and I want to be able to see the keys even though I can type fairly well without looking.

I have the 11" black one for my 11" iPad Pro, got around 2 years ago. Very minor key wear (really only see it on the right side of the space bar, since it's the key I hit the most / with my right thumb). Trackpad still looks very clean.

On the front anhd back covers, there are a few scratches on it. The material is kind of rubber like, so if you happen to scratch it hard (Eg. with your nail, or with something sharp), it leaves a bit of a light scuff.

Overall, I've been really happy with the longevity and robustness of it.

I have both white and black. Black looks better than white after 1-2 years. The white one looks a bit dirty while the black is solid black just like new.

No issues, typing on it now. A scuff mark here and there from being in a bag and travelling around the world but given that it’s held up really well.

Had the black magic keyboard, handed it down to my wife when the white one came out. The black one seems worse at showing off scuffs and palm rest impressions - it was very obvious that I had put some mileage on it.

Her solution was to put an iridescent purple skin on it, which I have to admit is very striking even if not exactly my thing.

The white is obviously newer but seems to show wear less obviously.

I have the same impression with the black. It was getting to me and I purchased a “refurbished” white MK from Amazon for a deep discount, while listing the black MK on eBay. The black is still is pretty good condition for as often as I cleaned it, but it definitely shows palm rest impressions and there is some wear on the keyboard.

I have had the Magic Keyboard for about 4 years. Still works great & I love it, however i noticed cracks along the cover where it folds, it actually is exposing some of the electronics. Really disappointed…this has been the best accessory in my opinion. I want to upgrade my iPad pro 11 I have had since 2018 & really irritated that the old Magic keyboard won’t work with the new iPad…so dang expensive to upgrade both.

Had mine for a few years now and still looks/functions great. Very minor wear on the outside but I use it daily (all day at work) and have traveled with it frequently without issues. I plug it in on my nightstand when I get home from work and it makes a nice quick place to dock and charge it when I’m not using it around the house.

I have a Day one MKB and it is holding up well. Having some slight glitches with the keyboard but cant say for sure if the ipad is at fault. It’s is showing some mileage but still works great. Will be handing it down next month when I upgrade.

As someone who's actually had a white MK since day one, along with a few friends that are also avid iPP users, I can say the white MK has held up quite well.

I've only gotten a few scuffs on the backside from all my travel, but otherwise it looks very close to new.

Just curious. How do you clean the white MK?

Yeah, I've never had one last very long, but I'm sort of a slob. My wife has one that is 18 months old and seems fine.

I now use a Logitech K120 wired USB keyboard which cost me six bucks and which I like very much. The one I have now is three years old and shows no sign of failure in spite of several spills and plenty of food crumbs. The key caps are filthy but don't seem to mind.

I've had a white one since it came out, and it's held up just fine. I had to clean it once with a wet rag, but had to clean my aluminum MBP twice during that time (granted, I use it the most).

The only issue I've had with the MK is an odd one: every time I open it up and use it, the Space Bar won't register on the first tap, I have to tap it a second time. It's not a dirty contact, as it happens 100% on the first click, and then never again; and it doesn't happen on any other key. Weird.

And, yeah, I'm the guy whose fingerprint login quit working on his MBP, switched that feature off for a day, turned it back on, and it's worked 100% of the time ever since. That just makes zero sense to me...
