Alright, I’m not finding many reviews on the silicone solo loop beyond initial impressions. Those of you who’ve used one of these for some time, how’s it holding up? Any discoloration, shininess, stretching or does it look pristine still? Is the UV coating still in good shape?

I’m returning a deep navy solo loop because it has shown too much wear in only a month. Otherwise, I like the band. I’d like to see how others’ solo loops are holding up before deciding whether or not to give another one a chance.

Thanks in advance for sharing your experience!

I’ve had the white solo loop since launch, used every day and still looks brand new.

Thanks. I was wondering if the white bands would hold up better, as this seems to be the case for iPhone silicone cases, as well.

That’s great! Would love to hear about the darker colors, like deep navy. Glad those with White are holding up well!

Well, I appreciate the two who gave feedback. I guess nobody else is interested in this or very few people have had issues. I’d really love to hear from people with black or deep navy solo loops.

Would you be able to share any photos of how your navy loop looks now. It was one of the colors I was planning on getting.

Sure. It’s most noticeable in indoor lighting . Outside, in bright sunlight, I don’t notice it quite as much. I’m mostly just unhappy with the coating wearing off in just one month.

Thats strange, mine has gone everywhere, including the shower everyday.

Aside from aesthetics, do silicone loop bands get wider with time?

I didn’t notice much change. I tried a size down from what Apple recommended, and it was just too tight, especially considering that I got it in the winter. Your wrists will swell a lot in the summer/hot weather. I had it for maybe a little over a month, and it didn’t seem to change size much.

The UV coating looks uniform on yours in all lighting types (indoor and outdoor) on yours? It’s probably much harder to see on white bands. You’d notice it though in lower light setting, though.

Here is my white solo loop:

That looks good, especially if you’ve been wearing it daily for weeks.

I wonder if it has to do with the color or if some just aren’t coated as well. I noticed that the coloring did not look as uniform on my size 5 compared to the size 4 that I tried. I almost exchanged it. Not sure if that’s what happened or not. Like I said, I really liked the band, otherwise.

Hey @PaladinGuy, just found your post and I can agree with you. My Deep Navy looks very beaten up in just a few months that I had it. It pretty much got that way after only a few occasions of wearing it. It has many discoloured spots and it is a lint magnet too, this pic was taken after just washing it and finish clean with a microfibre cloth. Compared to my Cyprus Green it looks disgusting and I'm wearing the Cyprus a lot more! Can you please tell me if you were able to return it? I am really thinking about doing a chat with Apple however it has been months so not sure this will be valid for return 😔

I was able to return mine, but it was only one month old. I am guessing the best you’ll get is a replacement. It’s absurd for it to get that bad so quickly. It seems like green and white hold up better. I got a used black one for cheap, and it’s got some shine to it. I only paid $15 for it though, so it doesn’t bother me as much.

I was thinking about trying a Cyprus green, so it’s good to see it appears to hold up better.

I will have a chat with them and see what happens, would much rather have a different colour but oh well.

The Cyprus Green is really a looker, I dig it a lot! Admittedly it does have very slight markings of discolouration, however nothing that would bother me and pretty much not noticeable. Some people complain that it's very dark almost black, but for me it always has a nice green tint that changes intensity with the surrounding light

Got size 8 44mm in September. Did stretch a bit over time. Worn daily and nightly. Removed watch to charge in the morning and switched wrists for sleep. (Let the daytime wrist “breathe”.)

It now has a small tear only after 4 months.

I bought my Cyprus Green Solo Loop in October, it has turned shiny along the edges, the matte finish is gone in several places.
It`s annoying to the point where I don`t want to use it anymore, it`s a shame, new it looked really great.

Edit: Maybe someone know how to get the matte finish back? I have only tried to clean it with soap and a spunch.

Thanks for chiming in. I’m not shocked, though it’s annoying. This was my fear with these. Seems like the only difference between the Apple ones and cheap knock offs is the quality of the connectors. I hoped that Apple ones would hold up better to the typical shininess problem with silicone.

I have the exact issue on my navy blue solo loop purchased in late September 2020 (so like four months old now). To be honest, I haven't worn it ever since November but my discoloration is worst than yours. Since I had the time this morning, I started an online chat which turned into a call from Apple, putting me through Applecare as well as sales and in the end telling me they cannot do anything about it since it's been four months and this is part of wear and tear. To be very honest, I'm more irritated they wasted an hour of time time and not to just tell me this is not replaceable in a 5 minute span. Very unhappy with the kind of service I received.

By the way, there’s no way to get the mat finish back because it’s accomplished through a coating on the band. You’d have to re-do the UV coating, which isn’t possible for the consumer to do.

I fared better with Apple, perhaps because my Deep Navy Solo Loop is just 2 months old? (purchased early Dec.)

Anyway, I phoned Apple which led to a screen share so I was able to show just how unacceptably worn the band has become in such a short time.

The Rep quickly agreed and arranged for a replacement to be shipped to me. I requested a Deep Navy Sport Band instead, and this remedy is now in the works.
