You think if a consumer has the choice between a product as is or a product that they'll have to solder the RAM themselves to make it useable, they'll choose the later? The vast majority of consumers probably don't know what RAM stands for, much less how find it and replace it.

Lol yeah but way back when, most computer upgrade parts was either hit or miss, and trial and error: Com ports, Dip switches, ISA busses, Jumper pins. Good riddance to those days mostly.
