November 2nd HTC are unveiling a new device from the 'U' family.

(I swear if this thread gets closed because it exists in another forum within another thread within another website as previously has happened... I'll scream).

It is reported to be the U11 Plus.

Looks like it could be a nice alternative to the Pixel XL 2.
I skipped the U11 despite being tempted, so worth keeping an eye on this one for me!

HTC is jumping on the 2017 2:1 ratio bandwagon!

More deets. Sounds like the same size of the U11 but none of the bezels

http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/10/21/htc-u11-plus-leaked-along-u11-life-details/

"The specifications page calls it the 'HTC 2Q4D200,' and reports it has a 5.5" IPS 1440x2560 display, a large 3,830mAh battery, 4 or 6GB of RAM, 64 or 128GB of storage, and Android 8.0 Oreo. The dimensions are 153.99 × 75.99 × 9.2mm, making it identical to the U11 except in thickness (the Plus is 1.3mm thicker)."

I'm kind of intrigued. I liked my time with the U11 but wasn't a fan of the form factor. And I had some weird Bluetooth issues. Would try again with the U11 plus.

HTC mobile is pretty much dead at this point.

My favourite type of comment and discussion point.
If it were dead, we wouldn't be getting new devices would we.
You're probably the same guy who was saying it about BlackBerry for the past two years, yet here we are with new devices.

______

I am very intrigued with the Plus. I skipped the U11 and picked up the XZ Premium instead and never regretted it, but this looks really nice. I also love that glass back so to have that still in place and minimal bezels is a great feat. Plus, the camera looked phenomenal on the U11 (particularly in low light) so colour me excited.

Pretty much.
BlackBerry no longer makes smartphones.
A Chinese company has licensed the brand name.
Was also the guy that said that about Nokia,
They stopped making smartphones as well.
Motorola with the droid sold for peanuts to Lenovo, was also that guy.

Device pipeline was set long ago.
They probably have the next flagship ready for Mwc 2018 and that’s about it.

Don’t forget Google cherry picked the best talent HTC had to offer for the pixel.

If they legitimately offer a translucent case, that in and of itself might be a buy for me.

Your approaching MRU levels of smartphone sanity.
How many are you currently holstering?

Lessee...

Note 8
Pixel XL 2
iPhone X as of this Friday
(Had the 8 Plus but returned knowing I would probably wind up with a X. I've also used an OP5, returned because of antenna issues, and HTC U11. Loved that one but was genuinely terrified I'd drop it due to the back. Tried and failed to order an Essential, gave up on that.)

Not too bad..?

Not bad at all.
My iPhone X is arriving tomorrow as well and pixel xl2 should be here before the end of November.

You should start a new thread tomorrow and compare the 2017 flagships.

WTF. That is madness.
I think if it wasn't for the iPhone X I would without doubt be all in on this beauty.

Looks fantastic and I'm sure it performs just as well (if not better) than the U11 before it.

Just last week I was thinking (this was right after the Pixel 2 XL display controversy started), ‘Wow, no phone has really captured by interest fully.” The iPhone X was smaller than I wanted, the Samsung flagships design and software just aren’t my cup of tea, same general sentiments about LG, the 2 XL had lots of ??. Now after yesterdays two new phone announcements from HTC and Razor, and after spending almost a week with the 2 XL and seeing more impressions about the X, I have to say there are lots of great phones that fit my preferences and needs.

Pretty good time if one’s in the market for a new phone. Well, unless you live in the US and want a HTC U11 Plus. :(

It is the oddest decision to not bring it to the US?
I don't know about UK availability but guessing its coming here.

The only thing missing is OLED it would seem, but that's not something I am bothered about given the issues seen with OLED displays recently. Also, my favourite screens on phones so far have all been LCD, so doesn't bother me in the slightest.

It is bad timing for it though, what with Pixel, iPhone X and even V30 all at the same time. Difficult for them to compete.

Think you answered your own question there. The iPhone has its largest marketshare of anywhere in the world in the US. HTC would be trying to compete against all the iPhone X hype, as well as the Note8 and Pixels. Just not a piece of the pie left for them, sadly.

I guess I did :D !

Yeah, shame really as this looks to be a diamond.
Hopefully reviewers think so too. Be a great alternative for those who had Pixel 2 XL issues or those who decided to skip that device for whatever reason. Outside the US of course... o_O:rolleyes:.

At the moment I have more phones than I can count. Well, almost :p
And this beauty is all mine. Note 8 is going on sale, I was thinking of selling it anyway, but this just speeded things up :)

Apparently this was suppose to be the Pixel 2XL and Google pulled switched to LG "last minute". I wanted to get this and came on this thread to read that it is not coming to the US. Perhaps eventually I hope? Had my mind set on the Pixel 2XL but the issues has turned me off.

Really wish this was the Pixel 2XL. The only thing missing from the U11 plus is google's image processing. Hopefully it gets ported.

Still have my hopes up the U11 is offered in US eventually.

If I don't get along with my iPhone X for whatever reason, this is the phone I will be buying.
I've never used a HTC but this look fantastic. I was soooo close to buying the U11, but saw the XZ Premium in the store when I was there to pick the HTC up and had to go home and think it over!

I opted for the Sony (which I have zero regrets over) but nice that they've upgraded the HTC now to make a fantastic phone even better.
