Sigh. I feel I go through this every year with HTC. I get excited about their latest flagship, then get disappointed by the reviews or camera. How many times can we say "this is the last chance for HTC?" I don't know the answer.

As a tech fan, still looking forward to what they'll reveal. It'll likely be after the S8 though since the rumors are that Samsung and the S8 have exclusivity on the 835 SoC. Will they be able to cut into Samsung's momentum? Unlikely.

They just lost Jason Mackenzie, which is different. It's a sinking ship if they don't market period. The camera will likely be mediocre or problematic since it's HTC.

The fact it says its running Nougat 7.12 is as the article say - fishy to say the least.

As good as the LG G6 & HTC 11 potentially could be, we all know sales wise because of the big marketing it will be Samsung S8 that will dominate regardless.

The problem then for HTC & LG, Sony, Blackberry and anyone else wanting to put out a flagship is that they have to compete with the premium mid-tier.

Whilst punters may pay Google / Samsung or Apple inflated prices for their gadgets, the others not so much, especially with the likes of OnePlus, Honor, Huawei, Axon all offering very enticing premium hardware for a good few hundred less.

I look forward to seeing what they do, but I do think they have their work cut out.

Regardless of anything else, I've been a big advocate for Google to simply buy HTC.

It makes sense to me on multiple levels. They are a struggling company with a lot of expertise but clueless leadership and an inability to compete with Apple and Samsung. They made the Pixel - Google should do it.

yeah, for the HTC 10, Verizon had it very shortly. I remember going by the store I frequent to test one out about a month or so after release and was told they already took down the display unit and had no in-store advertising of it.

HTC also needs to price this thing right (again). They just can't command that premium price the way Apple and Samsung can. To do so is only shooting yourself in the foot.

I guess it was another thread where I stated this one was DOA, I might have to increase that to double DOA if the price is rather ridiculous as well.

A pity since I have the HTC 10 which is a very nice smartphone but HTC will need to really best that by a lot in my opinion for me to consider anything more than a play with it wherever.

Google already tried this with Motorola. The problem with them buying a handset manufacturer is that it alienates the other Android OEM's.
