Lol, I was perusing the OP3T thread earlier today. I've always been all about the camera quality. The cheaper OEM's are actually starting to catch up. My iPhone 7 Plus camera is amazing but I do get some inexplicable dud shots out of it and have some lost moments as a result. I do have quality point and shoots and a DSLR but some moments and opportunities are just too fleeting and it can take so long to get a regular camera ready to shoot, even a point and shoot...even if you opt to not carry a case. My phone cameras, however, at this point are practically an extension of my hand. That's where the major OEMs need to undercut the S8. I think people would rather spend $400 on a HTC 11 than $800 on a S8. Especially if the only difference is processor performance. If the HTC 11 features 6gb of RAM, Samsung cannot beat that because their RAM management is woeful to say the least. I am expecting big things out of the S8, but I am not spending $800 on that phone. I would rather buy the OP3T or OP4 for $400.
I used to feel bad about not being more graceful at using my real cameras but when it comes to kids and school events the atmosphere can be so chaotic I've seen some of my more savvy photographer friends fumble a bit with their cameras, too. Only one or two are real prosumers who can operate big or complicated cameras like wizards. Lord knows I've tried, but there are some gifts I can't seem to obtain and being a whiz with an SLR is one of them.
Anyway, getting back to the point I was supposed to be making before my mind wandered, the gap is closing for the cameras and at some point it will be hard to justify the price of the premium flagships. They're going to be for the people who want features like sharks with laser helmets or something.
