This phone is now $119 for Amazon Prime Day!

The best budget phones are available on Amazon right now:

$59.99 - Blu R1 HD
$119 - Honor 5X
$124 - Moto G4

All are running Marshmallow.

I preordered the Blu R1 HD but I might jump on the Honor 5x. If the fingerprint scanner works well that would be worth the extra $60 to me.

I ordered all three. The only one I haven't gotten yet is the Blu R1 HD.

The fingerprint scanner is really fast on the 5X!

For a performance boost (to eliminate lag) with the Honor 5X, you'll have to update to Marshmallow or put CM13 on the device.

I went ahead and ordered it. It'll come tomorrow and the first thing I'll do is unlock the bootloader and install twrp so I can use CM13.

The 5X is an amazing deal. Wow. I think I should order those two for my parents instead of the MX for $250!

I wonder how this compares to the Droid maxx 2(I think this is the Moto X Play elsewhere)

I just bought $100 in amazon credit off cheapassgamer for $90 and am about to buy the 5x.
[doublepost=1468353981][/doublepost]Bought! Now to keep this or the Droid Maxx 2(Moto X Play with Verizon bloat), the specs are pretty similar. The one advantage the 5x has is fingerprint but I dont lock my phones anyway, it also has a metal body but I dont care about that. I also ordered an LG G3 off ebay last week but I am thinking it will be either the Maxx 2 or the 5x

I get around 5-7 hours. You're going to be amazed by the battery life.

Im rooting and rom'ing right out of the box

I was going to do the same thing until I noticed that the fingerprint sensor doesn't seem to work with custom roms. That's a big deal for me so I'll likely root the stock rom and go with that for awhile. It seems to run well after the MM update.

I also read that you should put the system to "Normal" to curb cutting performance for battery gains. Various reviews point to it; sorry if it's not clear. I don't have the H5X in front of me yet.

Excellent. I'll update first before forming opinions. Honestly, at $120 a pop, it'll be hard to say no to it. As long as there aren't any major glaring or deal-breaking issues, the value cannot be topped. Likely not even by the Moto X Prime deal for $250. The MX would have to be significantly better to justify double the price!

We shall see.

Finally have all three in hand.

My ranking:

1) Honor 5X
2) Moto G4
3) Blu HD

I'm really going into the Honor 5X with an open mind. It's important to keep perspective considering the budget price and value. At $200, it's already considered a good value; at $120, it's insane.

I was watching some vids of EMUI 4 on Marshmallow, and it actually doesn't look bad. The update seems to squash most of the performance issues that reviewers point to. I just hope the camera is decent enough.

Does anyone know if unlocking the bootloader and rooting the phone is still possible with the MM update? I know it's an easy process with Lollipop I just wasn't sure if the same methods would work with the new update.

My Honor 5x and Blu R1 HD came in yesterday. I have the Honor 5x on rooted 6.0.1 with twrp installed. Getting all my apps installed right now and I'll move over my sim and use it as my daily driver to see just how good a $120 phone can be.

My two year old claimed the R1 HD as his own and when I told my fiance she just rolled her eyes and told me that's absurd. So I'll play around with that one after the Honor 5x. For $60 it's a really really nice phone at first glance. It's well built and runs very smooth.

I'm looking forward to testing both. It's been a year and a half since I've had an Android phone but I can't bring myself to pay what Apple charges for the iPhone anymore. If all goes well I may look at a OP3 or ZTE Axon 7 as a more permanent device.

Tomorrow will be my first full day to try out the 5x. I put my sim in it a couple hours ago after I had already set it up like I do all my phones, the fingerprint scanner is amazing. I never lock my phones since it is a pain to enter passwords but I will use this scanner, it works everytime and fast. The battery life seems to be stellar, it hasn't dropped much at all the past couple hours. I can't wait to see what I get tomorrow with a full and heavy day of use.

I bought one for my daughter on Prime Day. It seems like a really well built phone for the price. But I am having some issues getting used to EMUI when getting it set up for her. I'm used to stock or Samsung and this thing is WAY different from those.

I am looking forward to reading new owner's opinions.

I sent it packing, I did not really dislike it or anything but I rather have the oneplus x I am getting from BB for $200 minus some rewards. I do not think I will regret that preference.

I wouldnt pay $200 for it but in the range I paid(109) sure. I would rather buy a Nexus 5x or Moto X Pure used for around $200
