What I'm seeing so far looks very promising from Huawei. Regardless of what you think of them ethically, they seem to be the only smartphone company pushing the boat out these days.

The P series is usually the one with photography improvements but I'm looking forward to seeing what the the Mate 30 Pro brings.

And possibly even greater battery life? Yes please.

Things can always be improved with newer, better, bigger sensors etc. A wider, wide angle lens must surely be on the cards for smartphones as well.

At least its one less phone to consider this year. I suppose there's a slim chance of it being resolved in time but probably not likely. No way I'd consider a phone if I can't use Google apps.

I’ve already got my iPhone, so will get the Mate 30 Pro for reviewing and keeping up with what Huawei is up to, I really want to give Harmony a good go.

Ahh, such a shame indeed.

Hope they deploy Harmony OS as soon as possible, or at least double down on its development for next year.

Either way, the damage is done, they need to leave Android and make their own way now.

This shows the Chinese that the US is an unreliable supplier/partner when it comes to business.

I have a bunch of Huawei phone, like Huawei P10, P20, P30, Huawei Nova 2. I also have bunch of Xiaomi and Smartisan phone.

Install Google Play Service is pretty easy. There is a app that install GMS into your phone and it takes care all the Google Play Services.

At premium prices though, I want it all ready to go and no extra messing around etc.

I'll be keeping an eye on the Mate 30 Pro because I'm sure it will be a great device. But aside from the issues with what OS it will be allowed to use, the extra curved screen looks terrible.

So even if it does not come with it pre-installed one can easily install it by themselves..?

A fair warning to those who tend to buy used Huawei phones in US, future OS updates will be a hassle because with
Huawei ID it is next to impossible. Say you have pre 2017 mate 9, you are just stuck at android 8. Imagine with Google under restrictions to do business with Huawei, newer phones even worse.

Easily the best Android around and it’s being crippled by a stupid ban.
27W Wireless charging while competitors are putting 25W wired chargers in the box

A ray of hope by next month:)

"China and the United States are expected to reach an interim trade deal in Washington next month, with Beijing agreeing to buy more American farm products and the Trump administration postponing further tariff increases and easing restrictions on Chinese telecommunications company Huawei, a researcher affiliated with the Chinese government said."

Was hoping the price will be lower due to the Google ban. I got a Mate 20 for use during business travel and like it quite a bit. Thinking about getting a Mate 30 Pro from China as I am working in HK now. It is also nice to have a phone that is a bit unique when on my trips back to the states.

I've not seen the livestream but on paper at least, it has some very impressive specs. Such a shame it's being affected by the ban.

The smartphone itself is good but the OS still is key.

OS is a minor issue compared to losing access to all the Google Play Store apps.

On a side note, the round camera housing makes more aesthetic sense since it resembles a traditional DSLR lens vs copying the square.
