OS is a minor issue compared to losing access to all the Google Play Store apps.

On a side note, the round camera housing makes more aesthetic sense since it resembles a traditional DSLR lens vs copying the square.

Where would they be copying the square from though.... this time last year maybe?

No units coming into South Africa, at least for now, so won’t be reviewing this one folks, as things stand.

Hopefully this USA crap ends with China soon.
One leader has to get reelected, the other one has to steady the economy downturn, something will be there. Keep your hope high.

With no release dates and some movement between the US & China expected next week, it could very well be resolved for it to use Google services officially when it releases next month.

Still not acceptable for the majority of people in the West. And without Google services, major retailers simply won’t bother with it.

As usual haters will always be there. The majestic leader wanted to get back to WH for 2nd term. Deal is possible by Oct. Normalcy should be in order. The world cannot ignore 1.3 billion and their market.

And just like that, Huawei Mate 30 Pro takes the top spot:

Only had a quick look at the review so far, but it looks like colours are slightly more saturated than the P30 Pro. Which to me is a good thing, I wasn't always keen on the P30 Pro colours.

Now to see what improvements Google make this year.

When their photo lens akin to a real camera one, leaving the competition bite the dust. Some will say
this is as close to a spy camera in James Bond movies.

Having no Google apps it's like a feature IMO. First phone with 0 bloatware.
Yeah, course it is. It’s more about no proper official access to the Playstore without messing around that’s a problem. Having a few apps pre installed has little no bearing on how the phone runs. Yet people love to moan about "bloatware".

Any original signed by the developer app is available on apk mirror. Original, genuine, not modified.
Having pure aosp is great. Pure at the highest level. Android fan boys are looking for this kind of purity. But I still think it will be some Huawei bloatware on it.

A Huawei phone shipping with Huawei apps. Who'd have thought.

Plenty of news stories today about the method of installing Google apps blocked. Really is looking like a great phone that for the majority of people outside of China is one to avoid.

Only a matter of time. It does look like a pretty nice phone. Seems like they fixed video recording too. Both the p20 and p30 pro were pretty bad compared to the competition when it came to video. Which is odd.

GSMArena posted their review

The camera is very impressive! Very nice amount of detail, especially noticeable in foliage, where Samsung for example smudges details and turns them into oil paintings. I do feel that images are a little oversharpened but I still think that this is the most detailed camera out of all modern flagships.

Sigh...

Decided to pick up and use my Mate 20 again as a my daily for a while- what an amazing phone this remains.

So it saddens me that government paranoia (credible or no) means this territory misses out on such innovative devices.

Huawei needs to release that OS of theirs ASAP.

Hope the global is announced soon.

Saw the new Mate 30 Pro in China. Not a bad smartphone but no Google Play means no sale. Locals are buying though
