Huawei Mate 8 Dual Sim NXT-L29
I was impressed with the Nexus 6P enough to try the Huawei Mate 8.
Since they are both made by Huawei, You will se them compared to each other a lot in this review.
Here are the specs from GsmArena

6 inch display, 16MP camera, 4GB Ram, 4000 mAh battery, SD Card
Initial observations:
This is a big phone. It has a 6 inch display and is all metal like the Nexus 6P. But it is a little shorter than the 6P but little wider and thicker as well. The color is a mocha/gold and is very nice. Not too bling or shiny.
First impressions are very good. I am quite impressed with the feel in my hand. The build quality is every bit as good as the Nexus 6P.
It comes with Android 6 with an overlay called EMUI 4. I gotta be honest here this takes some getting used to. It is both nice and frustrating at the same time. It buries some settings so deep i had to look them up to find them. Then it offers features that I would like to see on other phones as well. I still can’t find how to get SOT from the battery manager
Set up was a breeze restoring apps and settings from my Nexus 6P. Love that feature!
By default the EMUI overlay does not have an app drawer. This is a first for me on an Android phone.
I am forcing myself to use this phone without using Nova as my launcher.
Battery life is more than impressive! I charged it the first day to 100%. Since then it has been 27 hours as my daily driver and it is still at 49%! Very very impressive. It has been a mixture of WiFi and cell service at work and home. I have used it just as normal as I would any other phone i have.
So far the Mate 8 has dethroned the iPhone 6s+ as battery king for me.
Sadly in EMUI i cannot find a way to get SOT. It does give a detailed use of apps and battery consumption but ti does not give the display consumption.
The speed and overall performance is right there with the Nexus 6P.
I do like the wake/lock and volume buttons placement
In testing the camera...i would rate it right there with the Nexus 6P
Not quite as good as my 6s+ and not close to my S7 edge. But still a good camera.
I am impressed with the Mate 8 and its build quality and craftsmanship. It is a very nice phone. The performance has been awesome. It is very fast and responsive with no lag or slowness at all.
But it is a big thick heavy phone. it is thicker and heavier than the Nexus 6P but a little shorter.
One thing to note about the Mate 8 is that because of the internals, there is hardly any development over at XDA. I could only find a couple of devs working on anything for the Mate 8. I would love love to see CyanogenMod 13 on this phone.
But I am not sure that will happen.
Anyway let me know if you have any questions or if I left anything out!
