It's pretty incredible. Especially since I bought an EXTRA charger (+150 dollars) and the 3 bring grounded cable (+20) and STILL have the issue lol. It is what it is at this point. I'm used to having to place my whole hand on the body of the Mac and then tap the TouchID button. But I really shouldn't have to.
I know this thread is older, but I ran into this today, but with a twist. Have no issues with MagSafe, but I cannot unlock my 2021 14" MacBook Pro to save my life using Touch ID if I have the laptop charging using a USB C port UNLESS I specifically put the hand with my unlock finger on the unit and then put my finger on the Touch ID sensor. If I unplug that USB charging cord, it works fine either way (hand on or hand off). If I'm on MagSafe, it works either way. Just not on USB C.
In my case, I'm using a third party wall adapter with USB-C, as well as my Apple supplied USB-C cable from my previous M1 MacBook Air (which I traded in to Apple when the Pro came out, and they told me to keep the adapter and charging cable).
This seems like it should be something that Apple should look into, shouldn't they? Electrical field issues with a laptop don't sound very safe for longevity of the unit.
