Other Hypothetical: Apple releases an "edge to edge screen" iPhone in the 5/5S/SE formfactor for $500....

Yes, without question. The thing is, this was the last phone I could hold w/o a case. I liked not having a case. But these new phones are too slippery and my small hands need one of those finger loops in the back in order to be able to hold the phone

Most definitely! I switched to Apple only because of SE(there was no other good android alternative); Later, I reluctantly moved on to bigger sizes - iPhone 7 and then iPhone X; I still miss my SE.. The iPhone Xs is slightly heavier than iPhone X.So i'm concerned about that as well - hoping my fingers won't notice it...
Just more dreaming. I guess it is all the SE owners/wanters have. Even if the SE had full screen and no bezel it would be way too small for me.
At the time right before the SE was introduced, I would have called it "total fantasy." LOL.Might as well change "Hypothetical" to "Total fantasy"
A device that size would have like a 4.5-4.8" screen. I would imagine it would have to be slightly larger than the current SE design but it would still be physically smaller than a X/8/7/6.
It obviously would have to be close to a flagship model with modern components. I'm just saying. The smaller size, at this point, is a feature I'm willing to pay for.
Id pay iPhone X prices for an Xse! Love my SE, the only reason I upgraded was because of the edge to edge display. Much prefer the size and exterior of the SE design.

The last I heard there were, indeed very advanced, plans for a second gen SE, and 2-3 prototypes in the running to be selected for release (one of which was basically the SE with a glass back for wireless charging) but the whole project was killed off for an unspecified reason. Whether it was just shelved as they needed to free up some engineers for the Xs/Max or Xr and will eventually be released or if it was killed permanently for market reasons I don’t know...
