I've got a 2006 MacBook Pro that still works, great machine but no browsers work on Lion anymore. I had a Pismo laptop with cartridge type batteries, very good. I go right back to a Macintosh 128k in 1984/5 and I don't know how many in-between. I'd love an iMac Pro but at £4,899 phew.....

What OS does the 06' run? You can get modern browsers back to Tiger, maybe even further back.
TenFourFox is a modern Firefox for Tiger

Snow Leopard. I realise I can mess about with other browsers, Firefox works, but some web sites won't load etc. I use my 11" Air for sofa surfing.

My Mini has been delivered, very happy with it!

just max out the Mini and add an eGPU.

I am very happy with the Mini, fast enough, 16GB Ram and 256GB Flash. The only are area I'd like better is driving my 4K monitor at 'like 2560 x 1440" HiDpi retina scaled. I knew what it would be like at 2560 x 1440 (not sharpest) direct which I can live with.

I'll be looking for a dock or eGPU that drives my monitor better with Thunderbolt 3 (with a Thunderbolt 2 adapter) so it can be used in the future as well.

I've been researching eGPU's and just found this quote on the latest Beta of High Sierra...

"10.13.4 Beta 2 came out today and it broke compatibility with Thunderbolt 1 & 2 Macs. External GPU functionality now only works with Thunderbolt 3 Macs!"

In a similar situation: can get a 2.8GHz/16GB/2TB fusion for 800€ (£700), but would prefer a early-2015 MBP 13" 16/256 in stead, for a bit more.

I got my 2014 Mac Mini for about $690? a few years ago and put an external SSD on it. I got my 2011 Mac Mini for $200 from a coworker last year - loving it.
