I just placed my order about an hour ago with a scheduled delivery date of the 29th. I spoke to them about the yellow/flickering/blackout and the salesman said most people are getting these problems were getting them because they were in VERY cold climates. Either way I got the 3 year extended plan so I should be all right. Excited to edit some HD Video !

He REALLY said this?!?!

Pretty perposterous. Does he think these defective computers are being used by Eskimos in Igloos?

Wow... sounds like he's either ignorant or lying through his teeth. Personally, I wouldn't do business with an unethical person like this. You have to wonder what else he's lying about. Seriously.

Bruno I gotta say: if you don't notice anything at all with the naked eye then don't jeapordize your mental health by trying any of the color uniformity tests. Any imperfection, however slight, will be extremely noticeable if you do the tests. To quote Futurama: "You watched it, you can't un-watch it!"

I really hope you get a good screen, because the 27" is a ton of fun to play with. Love mine to bits, I'm just crushed that the yellow tint issue got worse over time and now I'm in for a bunch of headaches in the coming weeks.
Anyway good luck and have fun! Enjoy the thrill of the shiny new toy :D

It seems that those who settle and don't bother to return for a replacement end up with their problem getting worse.

The yellowing is bad enough, to know that it gets WORSE over time is very disheartening. How can Apple make such a shoddy product and charge so much money?

Let's see some pictures of the yellow tinge on your 27" iMac. Not every iMac has this defect, oh master pundit.

Oh, that's right, you don't HAVE one and never have. You're just the guy that screams to everyone else how bad they are and how stupid people are to buy them.

It's strange that trolls like Archipellago, who actually occasionally made some semi-intelligent comments by accident, gets a temporary ban but you and your broken record spin on ad infinitum in here.

You think one needs to own one to realize that there are defective screens?

I've got friends who have had problems. I've seen the yellow tint first hand and know of the ordeals they've been put through. I've read the numerous articles and message boards, including the ones on Apple's own propriety site. It's no secret that a large volume of their screens have issues.

I have had mine for a month or so and it works flawlessly. The glare from the glass is quite annoying at sunrise or sunset as my monitor faces a window. I had previously a 24" matte Hp CAD monitor for 7 years and didn't realize how good matte is. I ended up canceling with apple and getting it from powermax. I got it with warranty for less including 8gb of non oem ram and they had it in stock (no 2 week wait). Only problem I have had so far is not being able to use it as much as I want. lol

The fastest computer I have ever touched. No lag whatsoever even when using 150 tabs in firefox, Itunes, Lightroom, adobe after effects and every other program I could think of. If it lasts I will be one happy camper.

You are joking right? Were you just testing the machine or do you really surf that many sites per day?
