I have had my MBP for two weeks now and am just amazed. The battery can last all the way through my Tuesday night class that goes from 7-9:40 while typing notes and surfing the web.

I downloaded the Demo of prey and at 1740x800 resolution with everything turned on it ran amazingly fast. At first I thought that I was going to put Bootcamp on this computer so I could run games but after playing around with Mac OS X I never want to touch another Windows operating system again.

By the way I have no grain, no issues with back lighting and I have the glossy screen and it is so bright and gorgeous. I also bought an applesac sleeve to protect my little gem from being scratched.

Now for the pictures:)
Darn my pictures are to big (1.4 jpg's and stuff how do yall guys put pictures up?) Help!

Congrats on your nice new machine.

For pictures, you can either reduce the file size such that you can upload them to the MR server (manage attachments), or use an external hosting site like ImageShack.

Congratulations, and welcome to the family! :) One of my friends just got a 17" and he so adores it.

For the pictures. The best option by far is to open an account at a site such as flickr.com or photobucket.com or imageshack.us -- I personally use photobucket the most. They are all free. You can easily upload your photos there. In the case of photobucket, once you upload the picture, below it, there will be three boxes. One of them will say IMG Code in front of it. If you copy and paste what's in that box into the text of your forum post, the picture will appear there. :) Simple. Alternatively, get the actual URL by itself and then click the yellow icon above the textbox in the forum page (looks like a landscape with mountains and the sun) and then paste the URL into the popup box.

Flickr does have a cool advantage that it can dynamically provide you smaller versions of an image without resizing it (so if you upload an 800x600, you can post it in a much smaller form, say here, without having to make it smaller).

This sidesteps all the issues of sizing the picture and so on -- these sites will automatically make pictures a reasonable size for web posting.

Is anyone here really dying to see a bunch of pictures of a computer that we've all seen more times than we could possibly count?

Congratulations on the new computer, though.

HaHa

Screw the Macbook Pro. Give me that sweet ass Averatec!!!!!:)

-Man I'm never spending cheap money on something like that again. Besides random shutdowns and making a heat impression on my old desk I probably wouldn't even give that thing to my enemy.

My dad uses an Averatec notebook, the Sam's Club special. He got a hell of a deal on it at the time, but two years later it's a little worse for the wear. It's a homely little dog that's for sure.

At this point I've had to repair the DC in jack. He's also got a row of dead pixels right in the middle of the screen. Just yesterday his trackpad died. A few months in, I also had to replace his hard drive for him.

These computers aren't exactly models of fine engineering. But, you get what you pay for, and for the money you can do worse. He loves the damn thing.

Dust and Flip Clocks!

Ha, I knew as I noticed the dust while I was uploading the pictures that some one would comment on that  .

what clock is that?? - i want one!!!

aussie_geek

I randomly collect flip clock radios. It's a Toshiba flip clock radio. Sometimes you can find them on ebay but they don't make them anymore.
