Then the Apple Video Player should work for you. (In OS9).

FWIW here's my calculations of what it's going to cost:

700+mb ram = $150 (3-256mb @ 47.00ea)(yea, I know you said cheap PC RAM)
500-600mhz sonnet G4 = $159.00
ati radion 9200 pci 128mb v ram = $128.00
dvd/rw cd/rw combo drive = $78.00
40 gig hdd(its on its way) = $48.00 (you said earlier you could get one for $15...WHERE? I need one.)
OSX Tiger = $99.00

For a Grand Total of $662.

That's a lot of scratch (as much as a high end MacMini) to capture a video game screen.

What ever you choose, good luck.

Me, I'd save my pizza delivery tips for an iBook with an EyeTv.

a 40gig hdd where my friend has one and ebay has them and a select few other places but what i was talking about was buying it from a friend

dvd/cdrw combo drive $27.95 http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Apple/P510186/

256mb ram 1 stick $29.50 (3 sticks of it will be $88.50 alot cheaper than the one u said) but thats without shipping but i only got one right now so i can just up the ram so i can run better the other 2 im going to buy together so the shipping wont be double if i do it one by one once i get it in the mail i have to take one of the 2 32mb sticks and replace it with the 256mb stick for a total of 416mb
http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other World Computing/100SD256324/

40gig hdd $49.99 (i was going to get it from him but i thought i better get it bran new so i can have a warenty if somthing goes wrong
http://eshop.macsales.com/Catalog_Item.cfm?ID=5581&Item=MAX6E040L0

so far total $107.44

well im going to get the mac os 9.2.2 first then get the mac os 10-10.2.8 is the highest offical supported mac os ,and i can dl Xpostfacto 3 to install mac os 10.3 and theres another Xpostfacto i think for mac os 10.4 for the older mac's
you can find mac os 9.2.2 cheap if u look around witch i need it just in case i have problems with xpostfacto

yea i know If you have a hard drive over 8 GB in size, you must partition it. The partition containing OS*X must be within the first 8*GB of space or you will not be able to run OS*X. (If you are creating the partion within OS*X, it must be 7.45 GB or smaller as reported by Disk Utility, because sometimes a GB is billion bytes and sometimes it's 1,073,741,824 bytes.

soon mabe if my money flow is good enuff i can get a cpu but not a new one mabe a used one from ebay i hope for a new one 500-600 mhz G4 from sonnet or Xlr8 but if i can only afford a used one then so be it

i can hold off on the video card for a bit but i need the cpu more than the video card right now but need more storage and memory than any thing

A GigaByte is always 1,099,511,627,776 Bytes (what you had was a MegaByte).. don't get fooled by the base 1000 math that hard drive manufacturers and software sometimes tries to screw you over with to sell hard drives and HD sizes. It' easier to say "80GB hard drive" than a "74.5058GB hard drive".

oops i copyed and paste off of another site hehe i know better to do that again u would figure that they would of had the correct numbers
yea i know that a hdd never really is the real size they say it is or if it is the size they say it is when u partition it and format it it will lose space cant remember y tho been so long since i read into it. man i hate the fact that if u dont do somting for a wile u sometimes forget parts untill u do it again or it totaly slips your mind hell back when i got my first pc it was a old 8086 4-8 mhz running DOS and had only 640 k memory with a monocrome monitor boy i could do any thing in dos now i forget alot cause i am use to a gui abd having it all automated for you like a single or double click to do this or that

Why the hell you have to do that? I have 120 gig HD (one partition) and it works perfectly.

Older boxes require OS X to be installed in the "first 8GB" of the disk, forcing you to partition the disk. We're talking beige G3s and before.
