Don't know if it means anything but several SB models are sold out or no stock on Microsoft's store. The one TB model of both models, that's surprising to me, wonder what the use case is to need that much storage. Maybe it's just all those Apple converts who always buy the maxed models cause they can
I opted for 256 on my Surface Book, really looked at my storage needs this time; like many others majority of space is consumed by media, Surface Book I now only keep music on the SSD, bought a 2TB Seagate Wireless drive for video & backup, this offers a larger catalogue. Of course another option open is a Micro SD Card and suitable adapter for the Surface Books SD slot. I also have a SanDisk Extreme 500external SSD for backup & high speed recovery.
Really unless the workflow calls for it, large high speed internal storage doesn't add up to anything much more than convenience, ironically I now have far more free space on my Surface Book than my Mac's some with significantly more internal storage.
