I understand that. but what you dont is where did i say that apple didnt own mac?
Hi, I just bought a used mac mini intel core duo 1.66ghz, I have no admin password to log onto the thing, I cannot reach the owner because it says his phone is disconnected, I need the password to get on it, I have no Mac OS X install disc's and the ones i do have dont work "witch are panther 10.3.4" I cant order new discs Apple will not send them to me, Im out of options.
If there is anyway you can help me i would appreciete it. But please dont tell me to call mac again or try to get ahold of the owner, those are things that cannot happend, i need some kind of way to reset it, there has to be one somehow!
thanks alot!
On digg a couple of weeks ago was a way to boot into single user mode and reset the passwords.
honestly dude, your not welcome in this thread, just leave, ive gotten a lot of great answers thats are getting me close. you can think what you want,
Why is he not welcome in the thread? This is an open forum and I was really glad someone finally came out and wrote what I was thinking from your very first post. I agree with HLDan completely.
I'm not accusing you of anything either but you can certainly see how your situation might arouse suspicions. There's no need to be so defensive.
incase no one else said this but are you able to boot into it by holding apple s, for single user mode it mite work for you that way.
I can understand him being defensive. He bought a mac (legitimate or not) and got screwed. So he came to a forum thats usually pretty helpful and he got jumped on for typing the wrong name of the company and being told he was stupid for buying the computer without the disks.
Can we all say we didn't step in dog **** some time in our life? To play on that same metaphore, the situation stinks... but i've done silly things too because of my excitement etc.
I think it's a fair request to say help the guy out or just sit on the sidelines, but flaming him is just rude.
I didn't "flame" the poster nor did the person whose post I was defending.
This is an open public forum in which anyone is allowed to participate and offer their opinions so long as they are not inflammatory personal attacks and stay on topic.
The original poster may be a totally honest individual who got screwed with a password-protected computer he bought on an auction but I have to say the story sounded completely convoluted to me. I've bought hundreds of items on auction and had very few bad experiences and none where I was unable to contact the auctioneer for followup post auction.
There is nothing wrong with offering an honest opinion on these forums. Please leave the moderation to the management.
I like SaSaSushi's suggestion. There is nothing wrong with offering an honest opinion on these forums. Please leave the moderation to the management.
I did boot into single user mode, but after that what do i do.
Why not?
Anyway, to the OP, you may want to try this. It may or may not help.

Did you follow the instructions from this link I gave you earlier? It should work. http://www.hackmac.org/?q=node/4
You obviously haven't been on this site for very long.Alright dude, your bringing nothing but negativity to this thread, Nobody cares on your opinion no one wants to sit here and read people bitchin at people. if you don't have advise or anything that can help THAN DO NOT POST IN THIS THREAD.
And, Not all the people on ebay have the greatest experience and perfect luck like you. Some people get screwed, and i did, and its way out of my hands, just because the person that screwed me over is an ass doesn't mean its my fault so you don't need to talk to me like im committing a crime, Help me with my problem just like everybody else on this thread, I will say it again, DO NOT REPLY if its not advise or something positive to say, Nobody wants to read your ********. We all have better things to do.
Yea, I did, I did exactly what it said, But when i would reboot nothing happend, it would go to the login screen like normal, i must of did something wrong, but i tried it so many times.
I got really excited to, it looked like it was working.![]()
Are you stuck at Step 5 or 8?
Did you try to log in using the new account you created? Maybe it's not doing the auto login becuase it has been disabled.
well can you give me step by step information on what i have to do?
Hi G5Jake, since I haven't done it myself I can't really help you much other than the steps in that link I gave you.
You mentioned that it rebooted and you are stuck. Are you stuck at Step 5 or Step 8 of the instructions from that site http://www.hackmac.org/?q=node/4 ? If you are stuck at Step 8, you can try logging in with the new account which you have created in Step 7.
