And that feature is what? Not buying an XS?

The SE can do 90% of what the XS can do, but at a tenth of the price. It's an incredible value, even still. And it's also an iPhone that can have a white border around the screen; I prefer white.

Now don't get me wrong. The new iPhones, like the XR and XS are incredible devices. People should be happy to purchase them. But me, I'd rather save my money and spent it spoiling my wives.

Anyone here bought the SE from a few years back and still like it? I do except the battery have seem to be very bad. How do i test the battery if there is a way?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't you get your battery repaired from Apple for $29 before the end of the year? Jump on that. I bet the SE will be supported until 2021.

Congrats, it's a great little device. Hold onto it when you switch phones next, someone (like me) might be interested in buying it some day

I believe since the latest version of iOS 11 you can go to the 'Battery' section in Settings and it'll show you the health of your battery (how much of its original charge can it hold percentage wise).

I still have my Black/Slate iPhone 5 and it's in perfect condition. I use my 7+ as a daily driver, but I just can't seem to part with my i5 ;)

I picked up an SE this weekend as well.

Switched to Cricket from Verizon with an unlimited family plan and I will be saving $23 a month on my line alone.

Not impressed with the newest iPhones at their price points, so my whole family took advantage of the incredible Cricket deal of $160 for a brand new 32GB iPhone SE. Get them before they are sold out!

I tried my luck with an SE last year but my screen was crap. This screen isn’t perfect, but better and I will live with it for the price. I just can’t justify in any way not buying this phone at $160 vs all the other iPhones at over $400. It is so fast coming from a 5c.

I see myself getting an iPhone Xr in a couple years, but happy so far with this. Now I can put the money I saved towards a new iPad Pro or MacBook Air whenever the October/ November Mac and iPad event is held.

That’s personal information.
It’s not that personal if you keep mentioning “my wives, my wives” every chance you get in this thread. It’s natural someone would ask that question, although I do agree it would be better suited as a PM discussion.

I agree. If anyone wants to know, just PM me. You could say I live an especially... alternative lifestyle. 8)

I'm just glad this many people still support the SE. Hopefully Apple gets a hint and comes out with an updated phone with the same dimensions (maybe even thinner) with some newer features and the edge-to-edge brilliance of the newer devices.

I would love a new form factor iPhone SE borderless like the X ! Steve job was so right ! Love to use my phone with one hand

I just bought one too!

I have had an iPhone 5S for like three years now, but the battery is getting really bad, and it recently suffered a tough fall so the screen is coming off of the phone. I can push it in A LOT. I see the light coming out from behind the sides. I use Virgin Mobile and they recently upgraded my 30 dollar plan to 10 GB of data. I don't want to give that up.

I asked them if I could activate an unlocked phone as a customer already to which they replied no. Sucks. Their website is sold out of SE 160. So I had to go to eBay to buy a Virgin Mobile SE for 250, but I guess it's okay. I get to keep my plan(which is AMAZING), and I get a phone that I know I'm going to love for another two years. Hopefully Apple comes to their senses in these next two years and releases something small.

Can someone give me the highlights on a 7 vs a SE? I have a 7 and interested in downgrading for smaller form factor.

Does the camera matter a lot to you?

I take pictures, but it really doesn't matter to me to have like super high definition pictures for Facebook/Instagram purposes. I've been using an iPhone 5S since 2015, and I like it just fine. Otherwise, to me it's just no 3D Touch(a feature I don't find super useful on my wife's iPhone 8), and a smaller screen.

I love my 5S for the form. I'm so excited about my SE that I just bought today. Should come by Friday.

Yes I did. Ordered a brand-new in box unlocked Gold iPhone SE. It has this really cool feature that gives me $600. Couldn't be happier.

Hmm odd thing to brag about (2 year old tech) but yay for you?

Correct. For some, the new phones are so un-appealing that we prefer the 2 year old device.

Exactly. I intend to keep a 4 inch phone as long as I can. Hopefully some sort of foldable/rolled screen thing comes out in two years. I want something I can hold in one hand. Gosh, I can't believe there are so few of us that Apple won't continue to build something that satisfies this need.

My mom just bought one, well I bought it for her on ebay. Unlocked Refurbished, se, pink, with 64gb for $124. The SE design is classic. I hope they ape that design someday.

I had been holding out updating my 4S with the new SE2. Didn't happen. :(
Worse, they killed off the SE:eek:
Went to Amazon the day after the event when it was clear the SE was a goner and bought a BRAND NEW gold iPhone SE 64GB from Amazon for $354. Couldn't be happier:D
Like running to hop on that last train leaving the station......
Classic form factor with Headphone jack and Home Button RETAINED for at least next 3 or 4 years.

I can see them letting us get iOS12 and iOS13, but what about when support for iOS stops?

Any folks still use iOS9 and have no problems?

My 4S works great (Apple stopped updates at iOS9.3.5 over 2 years ago) for browsing, email, and texting. I could probably keep using it but it was time to upgrade since the SE is literally the last chance to keep that form factor.
I see SE being usable for at least 4 or 5 years. Hell, my Mom still has the very first generation iPad (2010) and can still browse the web using iOS 5.

My wife is still using her iPad 2. I hate it. Sometimes she uses my old iPad Air but she won’t upgrade until the iPad dies completely.

I bought an iPad 2 the day it was released. Still have it; using it as a mounted weather service on my kitchen wall (using Yahoo Weather). Amazingly, it’s been on continuously for over five years now, and STILL has 92% battery life!! It also hold all of the 32-bit apps that I can’t run on my modern iPads. Other than that, it’s slow as molasses but still fits my needs for what I relegated it to.

I bought my SE several weeks ago. I went from the X to the 8 to the SE.

See my thread here: https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...om-iphone-x-to-iphone-8-to-iphone-se.2128006/

If Apple reduces the price on leftover SE’s, I’m going to pick up a couple of them to serve me for years.

I still believe the SE is the best iPhone ever made. I mean best in every sense of the word. That is, when you factor in everything, not just latest specs and gimmicks.

Whatever happened to practicality? A phone should be small enough to facilitate true one handed usage. True, as in, actually using it one handed. I heard a number of people say that they can use their 8 or X one handed. Sure, you ***can*** use it one handed, but do you in practice? No. Most people do NOT use those phones with one hand because they are too big for one handed usage.

The SE can be held comfortably AND securely in one hand while typing on it.

Your wife is a smart cookie. Never let her go.

It really is outstanding. There is not a significantly different experience that the X provides over the SE. For day to day use of iOS11, it is the best. I wonder how many X users actually use Animoji. Lol
