Huh I just watched MKBHD video about the event and he said pretty much everyone he knew using some kind of SD card.
What does that even mean? Is he the well of all knowledge on the matter?

Professional photographers use them, but in dual slot cameras as a backup. Most professional cameras use a dual slot system of CF + SD, CF being the faster by far.
Anyway, the point is moot as I have never met a single person shooting in a professional capacity that doesn’t use a card reader or 2.
The slot is not going to see major use by professionals, but casual users will love it.

it was the same as always...Apple for 8gb ram $200 and for 16 $400
Im glad that they kept the prices the same...and no inflation made Apple to charge more
That's true, it has always been $200 for 8GB. It's just that there's no 24GB of RAM option, so the next tier up is $400 instead of $200. I decided to go for it anyway, because I hope to keep this computer a long time.

Yeah great.
Add an extra power port, which is redundant, as all TB ports are power ports. Add an HDMI port, which is available via a TB port.
Add an SD slot, which is available via a TB port, and is pretty niche and that’s coming from a professional photographer. Did I demand a CF port? No.
Lose a versatile multiple purpose TB 4 port in exchange.
How is any of that good? We have lost functionality and gone back in time to single use ports.
Terrible backwards step by Apple.
I agree wholeheartedly, someone at Apple got spooked, thought they had to listen to the minority who shouted the loudest. Would never have happened on Steve Job's watch, make a decision, and stick with it. Poor marketing caused the TouchBar to become irrelevant, and Apple refused to talk built in cameras, and dispel the myth that a portable was able to have insanely great video capture. And add to it, an industry of people, who spent huge amounts of capital designing hubs, and solutions, made irrelevant.

Ya.

I was think "SD is not quite Pro" since the CFExpress and XQD cards are the speed monsters for videographers and photographers.

I would rather they kept the SD slot out.

My reasoning in the picture.

So, to put the M1 max in perspective, like somebody else said it... M1 Max is more of a GPU with an integrated CPU than a SoC in traditional term of the world. It's literally an PS5 level
The fun thing about it is that PS5 will be the same for the next 5 years (+/- a year) , but those AS will be coming thick and fast in a much more rapid cadence , soon that PS5 level will not be the comparison level anymore.
