Cant seem to find the Project Fi thread so Ill post here. I just got my invite accepted and now trying to figure out how to do this as my wife will never own a Nexus 6 but I do and trying to see whats a good option for her if I go to Project Fi.

Anyone else in yet or use it with any feedback yet or how you chose your new plan?

Using it now, typical Google beta, but I'm on board, from what I've read, its pretty much a trial balloon, and if it becomes popular, it'll get a bit more expensive.

Am surprised at how little cell data I use, it may be a viable alternative for me.

I've read about it, not really sure. It may involve sharing personal details with a stranger, not really sure how it is done - definitely do some research. I know for sure people still sell ATT ipad unlimited plans for $500 ++
No personal data necessary. It's just an assumption of liability. The owner calls and releases the line and provides basic info of the new owner so they can identify themselves when they call in and they will run the credit and convert everything. The downside is the original owner loses their number and the person attains it but they can change it after the fact by porting their number to it afterwards.

I have had my Nexus 6 like six months now, and I still like it a lot. I just love stock Android, with no bull crap bloat, and heavy UI's like Touchwiz or Sense, that lose the whole idea of Material Design, and the minimalistic purpose of stock Android.

Plus the Nexus 6 is so freaking smooth and fast, and with 5.1.1 has pretty good battery life. I average like 5.5h Screen On time each charge, and get a full days battery life.

I am typically a phone whore, always looking to get a new smartphone, or the next hot thing. And right now, there is not one phone I would trade my Nexus 6 for. Zero other phones I'd take over this Nexus 6 today. Only phone on my lsit of looking at maybe getting is the OnePlus Two and Nexus M by Huawei the 5.7" Nexus phone

Right now running this new ROM, all the buzz is that this ROM is the new must have, and best rock solid smooth ROM out there;

TimberWolf - Layers Theme

This is my fav theme, and it works flawlessly on this ROM

I've installed Pure Nexus and downloaded the Timberwolf layer, but don't know how to apply it. I'm new to using layers on a phone, so is there another app I need to install to apply the layer? Thanks for your help in advance!

You need the Layers Manager app. Looks like that ROM comes with it baked in, so you probably don't need to download it from the play store. Check the settings app for a section similar to the one in the attached screenshot.

This ROM has " Layers Manager " baked into it.

First download and install TimberWolf.

Then into Settings, scroll down to the second group of options, under Rom Control, click Layers manager, and select TimberWolf, and then hit the red little paint roller at the bottom right to apply it, and then reboot, and your golden :)

I ended up having to download it through the playstore. I flashed the 7/5 Pure zip and it must have been removed from that one for some reason. I'm running TimberWolf now and it's SWEET!

Thanks guys!

Project Fi Invite Status: Expect your invite in 12 or more weeks.

Wow...

I got mine last week. I have a great deal with ATT on a family plan and my wife will never use a N6 so not sure if I want to make the switch yet.

You may have a rouge app always running in the background ? You should install Better Battery Stats, and let it run to find the wakeloc, and then delete that with your File Explorer.

My Wife and I both have Nexus 6's, I routinely get 5h to 5.5h Screen On time. Sometimes once in a while, I will only get 4.5h Screen On time, but that's rare.

My Wife just got home from work, her phone unplugged since morning, so 13 hours later, and she's at 81% battery life, with like 1h Screen On time,

I don't even use any apps other than the Google apps, Google voice, Cloud Magic, Dog Catcher, Textra and Xbox One Smart Glass. Chrome is probably my most used

If you own a Nexus 6, I highly highly recommend this ROM + kernel combo. My Nexus feels like a brand new phone running this. Super smooooooth, crazy fast, and amazing battery life.

I routinely get 5h Screen On time, sometimes 5.5h.

But I use Greenify, and never have GPS / Location on, unless actually using Maps. I don't sync much stuff. No Facebook app installed. I run a very minimal GAPPS package, with the fewest apps when I do a fresh clean install. No Gmail, no Music FX, none like that, I run a bare bones setup.

Does else anyone think this phone will still be a good purchase this year as well, given the newer chipsets?

^ I think its a great speedy phone but if rumours are true the new nexus devices are going to be cheaper, and what will kill sales is this ...

If you fancy a nexus 6, buy a Moto X style. You get smaller footprint but near same size qHD screen, you get microSD card support, you get same battery capacity, you get same build materials but with far more customisation, you get same ram, you get faster / newer processor, you get a better 21mp camera back, front facing camera and flash front. You get stock android but with actual enhancements to the stock experience but still speedy updates.

Better still you get $250 in your pocket difference ($399 v $649).

The Nexus 6 is too overpriced. It was overpriced last year but being the only new nexus it got away with it. This year with two new nexus's and with Moto's Play & moreover Style - it just doesn't justify its price tag anymore. It actually needs a $200 drop.... I enjoy my Nexus 6 a lot but couldn't in all honesty recommend someone spend that kind of money on one this year especially.

Moto/Google actually dropped the Nexus 6 price to $499 for the base model. Assuming the pricing for the 32 GB Moto X is $449, the 32 GB Nexus 6 would only be $50 more. Still, I would wait for the new Nexus and go from there.

Did they? They're still charging €599/649 here :(

I'll be honest, the new Nexus devices aren't exciting me much.

The Moto Style, definitely, but I wonder how the two phones compare (N6 and Style) in terms of performance.
