Wow...what makes you buy 1TB?

I wonder ppl with paid iCloud storage are also opting for a 1TB variant.
I do. I can’t afford high quality high speed cellular data ($140/mo), so local storage is still much needed even if I have 2TB of iCloud storage.

Plus, iCloud storage does not belong to you, and Apple could theoretically delete any file they don’t see fit without notice.

Love the picture man! The sierra blue looks amazing with all the space gray around. I myself caved and don’t expect to get the 13 pro max. I bought the 12 pro max just about 5 months ago and I told myself at least a 2 year minimum with the device. Honestly I think if this years iPhone didn’t have the 120hz I wouldn’t have bought one. I’m hoping to keep this 12 pro max for 2-3 years hahaha.
Same here I like how it stands out. Almost like saying, "I am the centre of this ecosystem".

When you play with the camera, could you see if you notice anything about this issue? It is a situation where if you are shooting at 3x zoom, it does not always use the actual telephoto lens; sometimes it uses the ultra wide and crops. It has something to do with the algorithm it uses. I normally try not to take other peoples' reported issues to heart, especially something so esoteric, but the individual and others on the thread seemed to have looked into it very thoroughly. The telephoto is the one reason I'm considering the 13 Pro instead of the 13 mini...given that you expect to give the cameras some testing I'd be interested to see if you notice anything like this.

But dang...that photo of the phone amongst the other Apple gear is a sight to behold!

I think that's how it normally works I remember watching YouTube videos of the camera stating this. Its something to do with light and what the software thinks would take the better image.

I usually get silver iPhones but I have to admit sierra blue is is extremely tempting! Enjoy your new Pro Max!
Its very nice a lot better than last years colour. Thank you! :)

next year for me too

the iPhone 13 camera is no better than last years 12.

The A15 chip is fast but like the M1 iPad there is no pro software to use any of that power.

I'm loving android and Samsung right now until APPLE catches up and gets it's act together.

If you wanna buy the latest toy go right a head.

A RECESSION is coming.

And what? In a years time the recession is gone just in time for your own phone upgrade? 😅

You’ve done well to resist for a couple of weeks 👏. I managed to preorder the night before launch day and delivery on the day it was released which was the only reason I upgraded from my 12 pro max 🤣

Wouldn't it make sense to buy the latest phone before the recession hits, so you have the longest lifespan possible 5-6 years of support? The smartphone is an important tool in todays world

Wow...what makes you buy 1TB?

I just spent a week in a cabin where there was no reliable internet access for 25 miles (Verizon or AT&T). But there was lots of stunning nature, and I was able to take all the high-quality photos and videos I wanted without having to worry about curating my collection each night. Also had to cache a bunch of maps for offline use. And I was able to bring along my complete music library, including all the CDs I've re-ripped into Apple lossless.

Well as always I could not control myself 😂

I managed to get a hold of a Sierra Blue iPhone 13 Pro Max in 128GB yesterday.

Immediately I noticed how stunning the device is and the build quality is exceptional. I instantly noticed the 120HZ refresh rate on the display. Not as noticeable like it is on my Fold 3 but so much smoother than on normal iPhone displays. Its not heavy at all for me it's quite light compared to my Fold 3 which feels like a dumbbell.

Looking forward to testing out the camera and battery life over the next few days.

Will be posting up some images soon!

You know why 120Hz is more noticeable on Samsung devices right ?

Nice collection. That is the exact same iPhone model I’m getting end of month. That color blends well with the existing main colors — silver and space gray — so it doesn’t look out of place at all.

I'd imagine Apple will fix this in an update at some point.

I hope, but Apple may not consider it broken. Evidently this was the behavior in the 12’s too. As the OP suggested, perhaps the algorithm is evaluating which lens can get the most light or some other metric?

Other camera apps like Halide do it differently: if I select 3x it always shoots through the telephoto. But on the third party apps you give up Night Mode.

This might be something only photogs would notice, but looking at the pics on that thread, it seems clear to me where the phone did the crop and digital zoom. It’s frustrating: if I’m getting the Pro it’s for the telephoto. I can zoom and crop with the 13.
