Only one store says they can send it in to fix cosmetic stuff which takes 3-5 days and costs a flat rate of $249.
Not worth it. You can sell the dented one, say about $580 (someone will buy it) and buy a new one for $650.

ok, the same exact thing happened to me. Dropped the phone, dented the upper right hand corner, subsequently shed a tear every time i would look at it afterward.

I decided I had enough and called 1800MYAPPLE and explained my situation. The customer service lady then proceeded to tell me that APPLE WAS REPLACING PHONES WITH COSMETIC DAMAGE. I was shocked to say the least. I even responded with an idiotic "but it was MY fault! I dropped it!" And she assured me that they would replace them at an apple store. All I had to do was schedule an appointment at the genius bar and they would swap it out for free. Unfortunately there was no appointments available for the entire month, so she told me I can opt for a repair where my phone would be "like new" all I had to do was go through the repair process, free of charge as well. As of right now i received the free loaner iphone they sent me (an 8gb model i might add, nice since i only had the 4gb) and i had sent my phone in for repair in the prepackaged box that they sent. I am unaware of what will happen next but I am sure everything will work out fine and I will be dent-free.

I will update you as my situation progresses. Hope this helped!

I can't believe it! He is right. I just called the 1-800-MYAPPLE, and the service guy said they will fix the dent on my iphone for free by going through the normal repair process. He said it is covered by the warranty. He charged me $29 for a loaner iphone, but that's it. My loaner and prepaid box should be arriving Friday, and I will send in mine to be repaired. I can't wait! I am so happy I will have a dent-free iphone again! (crossing fingers)

Haha thats great. I told you. Strange they charge you for the loaner phone though, they told me they werent going to, I might wanna check my CC bill to make sure.

Regardless, 29$ is a decent price for piece of mind.

And to the other guy, my story was far from fabricated.

Who did you talk to?

Who did you talk to at 1-800-MYAPPLE? Do you have their name? I called 1-800-MYAPPLE and talked to a service rep there. I mentioned that I had read that accidental damaged was covered. She checked with a supervisor and told me that it was not. (I could however, pay the $250 fee to get Apple to repair it.)
I then proceeded to call the local Apple Retail store and talk to their Genius Bar. That gentleman told me the same thing: They will not repair or replace phones due to accidental damage that is caused by the user.
I even tried emailing DMC to uncover more information, but have not heard back. I'm beginning to think that the only ones who say it's replacable are the ones on this forum. Hmmm....

Hey I'm sorry I do not know the rep's name whatsoever, and I haven't received any e-mails from you about it either I have no idea why. Well, that is a strange problem you are having, because today I actually received a replacement new iphone, because they didn't bother repairing my old one (too much trouble i guess). Came in a cool new mini iphone box (not the iphone mini, just a smaller version of the box) and a brand new stickered up iphone sitting on the clear plastic holder within the box. Completely perfect, and completely free. Now I just have to send back the loaner phone and I am all set.

I really don't understand why you are having this problem. Surely you are within the time window, if I was, since i bought it on the first day. I suggest calling and calling until you get the nicest agent possible, try to use some guilt by saying that it took your iphone 3 days to activate, and this dent is making you want to cry. Should loosen them up a bit. Thats pretty much all I can advise, since I don't believe my situation was a fluke.

That's cool. I hope I will get a new replacement too. Do you know if you have the same serial number as the old one?

By the way, my Titanium wedding ring put a nice 1" scratch across the face of my iPhone and I called Apple this morning about it. Guess what - they're fixing it free! They did tell me about three times that this is a one-time exception and that I need to really be careful because this should cost me $249, but I'm supposed to receive the loaner tomorrow (they're waiving the $29 fee for that, too) and they said that my phone should be repaired and returned early next week. I love Apple!!

Well, I'll give it another go before I head out of town for two weeks. Hopefully it will work for me the second time around. I'm glad you guys had some success at least.
