Hey all, is the Golden Master thats out right now for Developers THE EXACT SAME, BYTE by BYTE same copy that will be released in july 6 or july 14 or will there be some bug fixes in the final release?(Minor or not.. doesnt matter)

If it is GM, then it is what will be released. Any updates will be included in 10.7.1.

It's not guaranteed that this will be the same as the official release of Lion, but it's most likely. Theres always the chance of a GM2.

how the do we know until its finally released I do not have a crystal ball

you can speculate as much as you like but until it hits the app store then it is all pie in the sky:D:D:D:eek:

so no one basically knows.. i was hoping for a definitie answer.

I don't understand why people on this site keep expecting others to know things for sure, when most of the time, everything is just rumors.

The best answer I can give you is this: the current build of Lion is the GM, which means that if nothing goes wrong, this is EXACTLY what will be released to the public. The only time there was an update before release, after a GM was already out, was that iOS release with the broken Wi-Fi, which is a huge deal. Since the GM has been out for a weekend already, and I have yet to see any news of any serious bugs, I highly doubt that will happen this time. We'll be sure by like tomorrow, since that'd be a good time for Apple to issue a fix (if there is any such bug, though I highly doubt it). With the iOS bug, Apple responded really quickly, and I would assume they'd do that in this case too. My opinion is that nothing will change with the GM. The next update will be after Lion is publicly released; the GM will be able to update through software update, just like everybody else.

Well, if there is a problem, Apple would take a week to fix it. So if this build is okay with Apple, it will probably be released in about a week from now. If there is a problem, then it's probably more time: they would first have to fix the problem, then seed a new Golden Master, and wait 1-2 weeks to beta test that, and THEN release it.

if everything is fine with this release then i dont understand why cant apple release lion on JULY 6 like the rumors say. why do they have to wait until july 14? wtf it doesnt make ANY sense at all to wait till july 14

Assuming there are no major bugs then yes this is the build that will ship in about one to two weeks.

The one to two week wait is for testing.

How will apple know everything is fine without actually spending the time to test it? There are probably a lot of other things they need to get ready before releasing it that has nothing to do with Lion itself. like the Mac app store, getting docs published for the public, getting their support staff ready etc.

100% of the Time a Mac OSX GM has been posted to developers it has been the exact same build as the Release Version!

Even to give the AppleCare and Geniuses the very little information they have on launch day takes some time, dude. It also takes some time to stage the download across their content delivery network so that hopefully you'll get a decent download speed.

The GM came out on Friday, and you're wanting it Wednesday. And Monday is a US national holiday. So essentially, that gives them one day (Tuesday) to take this GM and prepare it for a world-wide launch and support. They going to want to make sure they've got everything setup and tested...

Really think not releasing it on Wednesday the 6th makes no sense at all? LOL

yes it doesnt make sense at all, if the GM is the final build and no serious issues have been found so far then WHY NOT RELEASE IT If it s the final build on july 6?

You do have a point. However, Apple have always left a ~two week cushion between GM and release. Take Snow Leopard, for example – it went GM on the 12th of August, 2009, and was released on the 28th. So the rumour of Lion being released this Wednesday has little hope for being true.

Because other things that you are purposefully being ignorant about have to happen - after the gm code is released - before a launch takes place.

Understand it or not, it's going to take time.

well, i guess i already found the bug for GM and apple call it feature... it is lack of 32bit mode :(
cmon apple, lots of us still using 32bit processor...

It's not a bug or a feature. It's just Apple moving on. Lion was never meant to support Core Duo processors as they're not capable of running 64-bit and Lion is 64-bit only.

Lion is not 64-bit only. You can still run 32-bit apps with it, like iPhoto. It's a (good) sign that they're moving on to 64-bit by phasing out support for CPUs that aren't 64-bit-capable.

I don't think there will be another Gold Master, so far all the bugs that I experienced on Developer Preview are gone, applications and games that were not working are now..

And I personally have not experienced any bugs or crashes at all..
