Finally did it, turned Siri off completely, remapped the side button to OG voice control. Already had suggestions, shortcuts etcetera all disabled - do not even notice it's off.

Anyone else have Siri completely off? Any complaints?

Have never used or had Siri on with any device.
First thing I do on the startup after an update is select no to Siri.

Really, I had no idea this was a thing. So do you have Homekit devices or a Homepod? I tell her via my watch all the time to add things to my reminders lists. I use Siri in the car to send and receive messages, play music, do you guys just look at your iPhone while you drive? Certainly you’re not interacting with the display and driving, you must have CarPlay or something. I really am curious.

Who's "Siri"? 🤔

Oh yes, that irritating thing that would invariably pop up when I would ask the question "Are you serious?" of someone...

I find Siri to be fantastic in CarPlay, on the HomePod and especially with AirPods. I’m sure there are varying experiences out there but she does what I need her to most of the time.

Nothing is that urgent.
If I get a call/message in the car I see it when I get to wherever I am going..... :p
Don‘t do talking to devices either, unless someone is at the other end.

THIS +100!

Siri has always sucked IMHO. Apple voice dictation used to work better in pre 13 iOS versions but after commingling it with Siri in iOS 13 it’s taken a nose dive as well.

I rarely talk to devices. Certainly not in public. But I do find that Alexa (Amazon music app in the car) is fantastic for choosing music to listen to. And Alexa in the kitchen is super helpful for creating and naming multiple kitchen timers hands free while cooking, washing hands, etc.

I use Siri all the time for sending text messages and setting reminders. It can be way faster than entering them manually. She's dumber than a box of rocks usually for "answering" questions so I never do that.

Exactly. People need to stop expecting a fully intelligent AI and just use Siri for what she's good at. I use Siri quite a bit for the same reasons. Reading and responding to text, reminders, timers, getting directions or business information, etc. Siri is crucial for me when using my Watch or CarPlay. Even for the basic web based information like "Who's leading the MLB American League East" or "Who's leading the PGA tournament"?.

It would be pretty unthinkable for me to set a reminder via my Apple Watch without Siri. It's something I do all the time.

Never liked Siri, Alexa, Cortana, and the whole lot of them. All always turned off. Just made me feel like a helpless child always asking mommy for something.

Interesting that's the perspective you chose to have with those virtual assistants.

Personally, when I use Siri, it just feels like another tool I'm using to help get my devices to do what I want them to.

Gents, help, my first day with IPhone is today :)

Settings - Siri & Search - I have all toggled OFF

However - when I go down and tap anything belowe e.g. App Store Books Calculator, any of them there are toggled ON 4 settings.

Does it mean Siri still collects data and am I supposed to go to ALL of those apps one by one to disable the 4 features?

Control freak here ;)

I turned it off and turning off Learn from App for every app also stopped my 10.5 Pro's standby battery drain.

Siri completely off. I just don’t trust those virtual assistants at all. Having a phone call while driving? I’d rather pull off safely before answering any phone call, no matter how urgent that call is.

The only wish is using MDM to further limit Siri’s ability to “turn stuff back on” after update.

There are no laws covering what they can do, and cant do, with your data, your voice, anything you do that it picks up. Any company can do what they want with it, including calling law enforcement, notifying the FBI, selling the conversation recordings, anything.

Yeah, no 'personal assistants'. If I wanted something that would repeat whatever I said, I'd find someone with a young kid to move in...

Ok. Your prerogative. I use Siri everyday multiple times with very minor issues occasionally.

I use Siri once a month or so if I happen to have a Siri capable device on and handy, or in a room where I don't have an Alexa device which eliminates almost every room in my house.
Alexa is everywhere and so far answers any need I can expect, plus streaming all my 140 GB iTunes from the iPod in my pocket with pretty good sound from the Echos.
None of these AI "friends" will win a Nobel, but Alexa is learning fast.

I’ve never used Siri properly. It’s just not useful enough to me to do so. Having said that I don’t own an Alexa, have no interest in having one and don’t use other voice assistants either. It’s a gimmick and always has been.

It’s a feature that panders to the lazy.

HEY SIRI barely ever works for me and I have like 3 devices always close to me. I sometimes use it for texting but it takes me twice the amount of time to go back correcting the BS it wrote manually so I gave up on that too.

i have Echo at home so I am using this to control my lights or to check the weather. Don’t even use the Home App. It was too confusing so I am just using the native Alexa and Hue apps
