I was one of the many people faced with the choice of MacBook or MacBook Pro. Earlier this month, I finally threw down the money for a black MacBook, as I couldn't justify the Pro's higher price tag. Many of my Mac-using friends thought I was crazy. Now a couple of weeks later I am SO HAPPY I made the right choice! My MacBook is amazing! I upped the RAM to 2 gigs and it just screams.

So this thread is dedicated to all of you, the MacBook users. Post your happy experiences using this wonderful machine! :D

Amen to that!!! I love my Macbook. I am not a gamer and do not do much video editing just a few home movies etc. When I bought my Mac I was looking for 2 things: Power and Portability My 2.0 Macbook white with 2gig of ram offers both in 1 compact and darn SEXY machine! I have had zero problems and I could not be happier with my choice of the MB over the MBP.

Great to hear that. Not only did you make a smart choice, for I think too many people underestimate the MacBook, but you also did it at a time when so many people are saying wait, updates/leopard is coming. Enjoy your Mac now, upgrade the OS later if you want.

I don't regret buying a black MacBook that is more portable and much cheaper than an MBP and just as fast with what I use it for. If you don't need the enhanced graphics, the MB is a great way to go.

Many people underestimate the Macbook. My blackbook is great and the integrated graphics handle the OS and everything I throw at it just fine. And I mean c'mon....black is damn sexy people!!!

Thank you for this Thread, finally theres ppl reppin the MB. Im so close to buying a MBP, but i wont need it for all that intense stuff but i felt peer presured cuz so many ppl love'em on this site. MacBooks Rule:apple:

That's one of the main reasons I started this thread...I think way too many people are recommending the MBP to users who just don't need that much power. Take pride in your MacBook purchase! :)

good thread. MB users and potential MB users need to read this...at least the insecure ones :p

Give it a few months when your black macbook looks like a greased up monkey and the trackpad screams at you everytime you look at it ;)

2 weeks with my black macbook - no regrets
6 months in - I bought a macbook pro

Not sure what you mean by the trackpad screaming at you comment, but I'm assuming your issues were mostly cosmetic?

If so, then the MB is still a great machine.

I, too, was recently deciding between the MacBook and the MacBook Pro, and I opted for the mid-level white MacBook because of its slightly smaller size, its better battery life, and its price tag -- the money that I saved from not buying a Pro (though, admittedly, the Pro was very tempting) will go towards the purchase of a desktop, which will be my main computer, while I use the MacBook as a daily portable.

I had to exchange my white MacBook for a new one because the display was defective, but the new one's great -- sure, it's not "perfect"; the hard drive causes subtle vibrations when the computer's on a hard surface, the fan is a little bit louder than the fan on the previous one. But I love it, I'm glad I bought it, and (most important) I'm glad I finally made the switch from Windows to OS X. The MacBook is, for me, the perfect portable computer -- fast, lightweight, slim, and stable.

That is because of a firmware update to make the macbook run cooler. You're old one would have been just as loud if you'd updated it.

Back to the thread.

I like my Macbook. It's a really nice machine!

However i'm in that bad position where i had a MBP and i know how much better it is. In so many little ways that really don't make sense and that you can't physically quantify.

I recommend the MB to anyone, unless they are going from a MBP.

It's a case of you don't know what your missing unless you try it. The MacBook is lovely if that is all you've used, however if you get the MBP bug it never goes away :(

A full-body MacBook skin from BestSkinsEver.com will take care of that little problem right away. Makes the black look glossy too!

i bought a white 2.0 ghz c2d macbook to replace my dual 2.0 ghz g5, and i love it. though i question my need for portability at times, i would still do it all over again if i had the choice. no macbook pros, no imacs, just the macbook. it's incredibly fast and performs to my demands with simplicity and ease. silly as it may sound, it makes me want a second one (black) so that i can have a set.

waaah! can't wait for my black macbook!! an MBP is impossible for me because of the size. (seriously...) I wish the MB's had a larger screen instead of the border around it, but I couldn't take anything larger than a MB. Honestly I was obsessed with my white CD macbook before I lost it... and now I'm gonna have a prettier black C2D... soo happy :)

The question really is would you prefer a bigger screen for the case size OR the same size screen in a smaller case?

My white MacBook with 1gb of ram (i might upgrade but haven't had the need to yet) is great! It's my first Mac and I have to say I'm in love.

Just bought a CD Macbook 1.83 from the refurb store. I am happy about it, don't even mind its a CD, not a C2D. Only bad experience was when I fired her up, the screen looked like it was horrible, but then I realized that foam was stuck to it (almost had a heart attack).

I love my MBP

Just two days ago i finally shut down my pc (dual core 3.0gig, 2gigs of ram MSI 6800gs) and hook my monitor up and bought a apple wirless keyboard. I have to say, Its like having a new desktop thats just as fast as my pc. Still trying to get used to OSX and unlock all of its potiential. Also learning FCP is a bit diffrent that what im used to as well.. But i love it and its just the Core2duo, 2.16 with a gig of ram. RAD!:apple: :apple: :apple: :apple: :apple:

Wrong thread buddy :D MB's only!!

BTW was your dual core Intel P4 (not core duo) or AMD? The MBP's would be as fast as those (not as fast as a 3GHz Core Duo though).

Are You Kidding Me!

people that regret buying a Macbook are friggin crazy

my Macbook is so sick that I almost can't take it......I've only had it for a week, but still it's so great.

2 Gigs of RAM, Running on wireless N, I seriously can't believe how fast my internet is now.

Gaming? please, I play a ton of games in bootcamp (which BTW was a breeze to install) Whoever said you can't game on a Macbook is seriously confused, ok....maybe not the heavy heavy games like Oblivion, (even though I had it running, just not well enough for me to justify the amount of HD space it took up) but I've been playing NBA Live, Madden 07, Neverwinter nights 2, Final Fantasy 7, GTA 3.....good times.

Smudges and finger prints? please, a little wipey wipe with my sleeve clears that up. Trackpad? I could see this being an issue, so II got these Trackpad covers, and they work PERFECTLY and are easy to remove and leave no residue....Glossy? Love it, but I guess I could see how some folks don't....

Too hot? nope, gets a little warm when I'm makin beats in Ableton or Gband, or playing games...but nothing to start a thread about...

When I was getting ready to pull the trigger on a Macbook, this forum did it's best to dissuade me, glad I didn't listen to the whiners, cuz I LOVE my Macbook, and YOU WILL TOO !!

good times.

Yikes, tough call!! I really can't decide. I think maybe same size, bigger screen... unless the smaller size reduced the weight as well. And if it could do the same resolution!

Only bad experience was when I fired her up, the screen looked like it was horrible, but then I realized that foam was stuck to it (almost had a heart attack).

LOL. :)

MacBook is easily the best of all worlds, at least in my universe. The perfect combination of price, performance, portability, and panache

The MBPro wasn't even an option for me, as I was not prepared to spend that much anyway.
I actually read the Pro was less stable than the MB, or was that a rumor?
