It's an iPod, not a house mortgage. The rates don't change, and the features won't change much either. Take the 5th generation iPod, don't stress over something like this. It's an easy decision.

This is the best advice in this entire thread. It honestly isn't a life altering decision. I can understand waiting for macworld to buy a new computer just like i can understand waiting for Photokina to buy a new camera, but the iPod has been so recently updated that the chance of a 6G being released anytime close to now is so remote. Enjoy what you have, or what you have the opportunity to have, and don't worry about what'll be the latest and greatest 6 months from now...if you do, you'll always be waiting.

I have a 3G iPod as well, and everyone around me has nanos and 5G iPods. Its so annoying watching them with their ultra-slim, video/picture enabled iPods while im sitting there with a scratched-up, dinted white brick with a monochrome screen and my black Senheisser MX550s. I have the money to get a new iPod, and if it wasnt for the iBooks just around the corner and my Fender bass which I have been lusting after for a few months, I would be down at the Apple store getting myself a video iPod.

As for colour, i recommend black. Something about it makes it look really nice and professional. But as has been said above, get the Invisible Sheilds. They dont take away from the elegance of the polished aluminium and plastic, and they stop it from getting scratched to bits. Be sure to put it on right, though. Air bubbles look ugly :p
