Why does everyone have to be so belligerent on forums? He (or she) made a photoshop, that most would find humurous, and expressed an opinion. Hardly worth kicking up any sand over.

Also, I made sense of what was said, even scarier, it didn't take that much of my cognitive processes to do it.

Flying Toasters - I remember having that on my Performa 550. That takes me back, and forces me to realize I'm getting old. I also had this uber-tacky, (#*k and fart joke screen saver called "Opus and Bill".... It was entertaining though.

I'm not too keen on the current iMac - I might have been, but since seeing this months before the current iMac was even out...

That's what an aluminum iMac should look like. :apple:

Though I like the design in the picture better - this is nice, too...

Not the greatest mock-up (well, who am I to talk I guess) but I really like the idea. I think the white accessories on the iMac are what really kill it.

D'oh!...

I really appreciate this post!
Until now I haven't been able to figure out how to make popcorn with this thing, and I've had no luck whatsoever connecting to internet on my new Amana computer system.

Your Amana Computer has one of the FASTEST optical drives on the market -- at least, for the "erase CD/DVD" function. It also appears to have a random light-scribe pattern generator - even on non light-scribe discs. ;)

I can usually completely re-format any optical media within 5 seconds on my Amana Core-Solo.

You should try it sometime. :D

Yeah, I don't like the new one much. Then again, I don't like AIO's. I do think it is a step up from the plastic white model though.

Very funny image though :apple:

I like the aluminum body but thats it on the new imac. And what about those terrible glossy ONLY displays. Come on apple i want to actually do some design work on this thing not just look at pretty pictures and movies. Some people actually do WORK on these machines. Now I have to look towards a new 17" MBP in january which doesn't bother me as I can choose a beautiful matte screen option. What happen to options! Not everyone likes the glossy apple.

The old plastic one looks so cheap and this new one...

My girlfriend owns the white 24", had it a year. She's an Architect and she's right when she says that her white iMac is more minimalist than the new one. She even has a white sticker covering the iSight because it stands out to her.

My ACD, MacBook and new Keyboard/mouse look minimalist and awesome on my desk. The new iMacs seem to clash. It's the black I don't like.

I like the look of it, it's very polished and sleek.

However, thanks, every time I see it now I'll think of a Microwave

Oh, and that mockup iMac-style Mac Pro would annoy a *lot* of people :D

I also like the new look.

The first one I purchased (Which I returned due to problems) I got it from a Apple retail store and I was stood at the counter waiting to pay thinking 'those white iMacs the cashiers are using sure look ugly compared to this' :D

I love it when grammar nazis make mistakes :D

Agreed, it's weird, I loved the look of the white iMac but it just looks dated now. And I'm not normally a "fashion" person either.

What are you talking about it makes perfect sense in his original sentence. Also you need to check the usage of "...".

To OP that was a hilariuos post, good mock-up

I'm glad most of you at least drew some humor from it. :) People need to have more of a sense of humor about things that they care about.

I for one wanted to like the original white G5 iMacs, but never really could get excited about them. I find the new look to be an infinite improvement.

ditto. I prefer metal to plastic. I wish the back was al instead of black plastic.

I agree completely with you. The black looks tacky to me and a little cartoonish for some reason (I know you don't agree with me there though). A pure Aluminum display would look amazing.

Like I said earlier, the combination of the 3 colors is what I don't care for. I think they detract from the overall beauty.

The aluminum ijunk is without doubt the most regressive, aesthetically and functionally lacking machine apple has released since the quadra 630. I'd be embarrassed to own one as a doorstop. They took the apex of the model evolution, the c2d 20/24 " white and turned it into a can of new coke.

Why is this bothering you so much?? You felt you had to start a thread about why you hate something so much.

Probably not the best way to make new friends in the iMac section...

I actually sold my white iMac to buy a AL iMac b/c I thought the look much nicer.
If people are too narrow-minded to believe that unless everyone agrees there is no way for them to make friends then this OP is better off not having friends...don't you think? I mean, just because the guy doesn't agree with the general population doesn't mean he'll make enemies around here and the people (you) who have issue with that may not make the best friend anyway. Right? It's really just his opinion and probably not a personal dig towards you. If I am wrong then let me know and I'll apologize.

I found the OP to be kind of funny. I think I actually own that microwave so it made it all more amusing.

Mod note: Let's keep this on topic, shall we? Enough w/ the spelling/ grammar police. Especially as folks seem to have proven points quite well.

That said, thank you OP. I couldn't quite place my finger on why the alum iMacs' aesthetics seemed oddly familiar yet not quite right on Apple kit. :D

Not a huge fan of alum + black (yes, even with the iPhone), but it seems that's the new trend. I was a bit horrified when I first saw the alum iMacs but will readily admit that it's been settling in for my eyes. Still prefer the look of the white iMacs, though.

Great photoshop. :)

I wasn't sure about the new iMacs until I saw them in person. Then I felt I would buy one in a heartbeat if only it had a matte screen.

I also had this uber-tacky, (#*k and fart joke screen saver called "Opus and Bill".... It was entertaining though.

Oh God. I forgot all about that "masterpiece." I'm sure I still have a copy of that lying around somewhere. :p

Thank you all very much for your comments! I'm glad to see some meaningful discussion about this design spawning from my little joke.

I agree ... if it was all aluminum, it would be far more fetching.

I don't think anyone can disagree that its an improvement over the old all white iMac. The chin alone on the old iMac was the size of Leno's and it made me feel like I was using a sterilized, triple-antibiotic computer....and no one wants to use one of those.
