Exactly what I was thinking.
It's not a rat race if one enjoys the process of preordering and waiting and tracking.
Unfortunately Apple and the cell companies have figured out a way to make that not true. All the payment plans are 24 months now. Which is about as long as most people are willing to go between phones. So you are paying the monthly fee in perpetuity unless you hold a phone over two years which would place you in a minority I think.

I ordered my Black Stainless AW4 at 3am this morning. Out of curiosity I looked at the MAX and it was still available in 512gb space grey unlocked!
I could not resist! If too big I can return but I have a feeling it will be a keeper.

My wife and I got one too through the AUP. I was not in a rush so we ordered this morning at 6am PDT and Sept 28-Oct 3. Works for us. And yes, my 5'1 wife got the Xs MAX too. lol.

Lol, yup...It was starting to become unusable. I still have it and want to get the battery replaced. I'll keep it as a backup.

My wife and I said the same thing, we both agreed we'd keep our 8+ phones for another year. But could not resist. Going to be a long wait Sept 28-Oct 3. But anticipation is most of the fun.

In the UK the new contracts are 36 months to encourage people to buy new phones. There’s such a slump in upgrades they are trying to attract customers with cheaper plans over three years. This is my carrier upgrade page and in previous years 24 months was the maximum.
I didn’t see anything mentioned in the Keynote about charging cables. Do the 2018 iPhones ship with lightning cables or USB-C?

The new iPhones are not going to be 5G. I am in Jacksonville too and would love to see it but it is not happening.
The Samsung could be 10G and I would not buy it, did Android and it was a hot mess.
Well that's too bad for you. Sorry about that. My experience has been the complete opposite. I love my Samsung S8+ and will definitely upgrade next year to the 10+ if it is 5G like the rumors say. The only change I will make is buying an unlocked version - Verizon cripples the hotspot feature in their branded phone. Then turns around and charges you $25 a month to use it. That's ok. I am savvy enough to beat'em at their own game. Learned a little bit all those years with the NSA...I just bought a new 512GB Note 9 but it's just not different enough from my 8+ to keep it. So I sold it to a friend of mine so he could save a few dollars. Easy come easy go. You only live once.

I’m in the same boat. But it’s obvious that was Apples plan all along. I’m upgrading, giving my wife my x and selling her old 7 Plus. I may not upgrade next year, now that I’ll have the larger screen size.
