I bought a Casio calculator watch and receive more positive comments than I ever had about my Apple Watch.
The Watch is redundant with everything my phone does, and the battery is s__t.
I'm done with Apple Watches.
Silly comment, IMO. No different than saying an iPad is redundant with everything an iPhone does. Different form factors necessarily mean different strengths and weaknesses.

Personally I don't want to feel "more" connected ie more pinging notifications and alerts and apps and red numbers next to icons inside apps to clear. So I have avoided the Apple watch and don't regret it. I tried Galaxy watch for about a year and came to the same conclusion.

sometimes i wonder why i care about tracking myself being perfectly healthy…maybe it makes me more health conscious? i doubt it.

then i think about how it maybe reduces my phone usage but…does it? also now im looking at the watch sometimes too even tho admittedly it will in fact replace some phone time usage but overall tech usage…probably not…

maybe it’s time to return to g-shock…

Never bought in myself. Another device to manage. Little benefit for the price. iPhone and Mac person. Ditched iPad years ago.

I wouldn’t doubt if Apple deliberately holds back capabilities of the iPhone where it would benefit the selling of a watch.
The ongoing "management" required is basically zilch.

I love my G-Shock. Now that I have an Ultra I don’t really need to worry, but when I had an aluminium watch then G-Shock was a great alternative for those times when I didn’t want to get it all banged up.

I sold my AWU and bought myself a Garmin Epix Pro. What a relief. Now I get real accurate GPS data, I don’t get any notifications , i have access to so much health and training data. And I just charge my watch every 20 days or so.

I've never owned one and have refused to buy one since they came out. I am still refusing to buy one. The AW is Apple's answer to the LED notification light. Rather than add that to the iPhone, Apple wants you to purchase an entirely different device.
Apple does provide a way to use the iPhone flash light for notifications.

So with that you rely on that THEY project the sun correctly on the dome. Go for max freedom instead. Do your own research and decide yourself what time it is

I didn’t indulge into apple watch fantasy (or any watch for that matter) until Apple Watch Series 3 where cellular was an option. Then I bought it, found it quite useful, and never Look Back.
Unlike 99.9% of people I Assume, I carry my iPad out with me almost all the time, often to a point that I only carry my iPad and my watch out without thinking, leaving my phone behind. iPad can do almost everything iPhone can but can’t do NFC, so Apple Watch fills that void perfectly.
Now using Apple Watch Ultra 2 despite not fond of Sports whatsoever. A bit big and on the heavy side, but I want to have the option to not recharge every day, so here we are.

As for the luxury watch, I personally don’t like them, and find no value to me. If I really just need a watch, a cheap $50 watch would just suffice To tell time.

But lighting up the LED at the back? Nah. A subtle notification light somewhere in front Would be more useful.

I’m not a fan of wearing things on my wrist but I wear an Apple Watch, mainly to get silent haptic notifications. I was missing too many rings/alerts/notifications before the Watch, also I didn’t like other people hearing my phone go off. I wish Apple made a smart band though, maybe something like the Nike Fuelband. It wouldn’t have as many functions as a smart watch, but I’d be willing to lose a couple of the secondary watch functions I use in order to have a more low key band.

A flip phone would actually be great but unlike a smart watch the smartphone is actually essential.
This is a fair point. I wouldn’t even be able to log into systems at work without a verification code app. I’m just thinking about what I’d have to do if I didn’t have a smartphone. I don’t think there’s a text message verification option anymore, I feel like they took that away ages ago.

The less gear and clutter the better IMO.
Never wore a wrist watch and never intend to.
Smart watches are all about tracking various metrics and delivering notifications etc. That's just annoying IMO.

That said, if/when it gets a foldable screen, so it could replace my iPhone, I might reconsider. Until then, no thanks.

i’m now over a year without an Apple Watch and I don’t regret it one bit… the only thing i miss is being able to silence a call by putting my hand over the watch face…. thats it…

I'm not going to play that game.

I have my dad's old 1860s pocket watch that's been passed down, plus my own watch. I use those.
You don’t have to refuse buying anything, as Apple is not forcing you in any way. If you think the Apple Watch is just a fancy notification device, it is clearly not for you. Which is OK! I use it myself for almost anything but the notifications, and when I wear my dress watch I actually miss it. I regularly go without my phone, because often the watch is enough.

The AW is kinda lame this far in its life. Hasn’t really changed much. Its only useful features are the health related ones. It needs to be stand alone, be able to do tasks better, and have more functionality. It needs to replace the phone. I don’t want two devices.

Decided to part ways with my Apple Watch Ultra 2. From owning the original 9 years ago and wearing one on my wrist up until now, I felt it was time to try and see just what it feels like to rid myself of it.
I purchased a Omega as my new wearable.
Sold the Apple Watch on eBay.
Now, I feel comfortably free and, for some reason, clear headed.

Give it a try.

I tend to leave my Apple Watch at home when I go on holiday and enjoy a couple of weeks with a nice mechanical again. People seem to strike up random conversations like normal watches are a novelty again lol.

I do like my Apple Watch but it’s nice to have a break from it regularly too.

On my cellphone, every single app is silenced, including any kind of messaging.
It rings only for calls if it's urgent, and I check any other form of communication whenever I feel like it.
Same for the smartwatch (I'm a Samsung user but it really doesn't matter)

Same here, except messages and severe weather as I live a blizzard and tornado-prone area. I absolutely loathe push notifications and consider them one of the worst inventions of the last couple decades...not an exaggeration.

I tend to be pretty social and like talking on the phone (instead of texting), so I leave calls on.
