Maybe it's just me but aside from those people who need instant access to times in other areas (business people, people with families in other areas), why the necessity of the Clock Widget if the iPhone clearly shows the current time where you are located? Just curious.

None of the widgets are updating properly. The clock is one of the most obvious ones to see this issue.

At first it annoyed me, but now I'm just playing around with which widgets I want and where to put them, in the knowledge that they'll be updating fine by the time iOS 14 is released. it's too big a thing to mess up when this goes public, so it doesn't stress me out. This isn't iOS 13 any more, luckily!

Having said that, I have the four-clock 2x2 widget as part of a stack and whenever I remember to check it out, it seems fine.

It's not about that, it's that there is a bug keeping widgets from updating correctly. It's a rather serious bug that needs to be finally fixed.

Note that this is nothing new. Even on iOS 13 and prior widgets often don't update; the weather widget has wrong information so often that I ended up removing it because not having a weather widget at all is better than one with wrong data!

Maybe now that widgets are more front and center, Apple will finally fix this garbage.

What time is it? The widgets are even showing impossible clocks. Inconsistent with each other, impossible times.. lol. Just a mess.

Also the calendar widgets always show their stuff in English.

It's a beta, there are obviously still bugs with the widgets, as others have said on various threads on here. Log it in the feedback app, as the more that do, the more chance Apple will fix it.

I am surprised in the new Beta that the Weather App if you switch to Location Based still only shows Cuppertino lol, I figured that would have been addressed by now. I live in Charlotte btw haha

They did fix this in DB3, as confirmed by many people. Are you definitely running DB3? If so, then report via the feedback app, as that's a bug.

It does seem to be Groundhog Day, as I constantly see people posting how clock widget is not working, with screenshots, so so so many screenshots 😂 I too, know that Apple will fix this by GM at the latest, so I just log it in Feedback and don't stress that it's not 100% working yet.

I noticed that with stacks too, I think they refresh on changing, so that's why they work better. It's possibly why Clock wasn't fixed internally sooner (Mind you, internal builds are miles ahead and might be fixed on there already).

It‘s most likely a case of premature optimization. Can‘t have widgets refresh 24/7 to preserve battery life.

Or, they were looking at their clock widget and thought they still had loads of time left before the beta was released :p

Some prefer an analog clock view, some have poor eyesight and can't easily see the tiny number in the upper left side of the phone, some (like you said) use it for work to easily see multiple time zones (this is me)....and I'm guessing some just may like the way it looks on the home screen.

And to the issues with the wrong time, it seems pretty clear to me that the clock widget actually "stops" when the phone is shutdown and only refreshes when the wifi/cell signal does. Seems like an simple miss on Apple's part and will be fixed in the next update most likely.

Mine shows my location.

The clock app icon always worked fine though. The widget is basically an enlarged version of that.
No it’s not. It’s using the widget SDKs, which are generally messed up still - they frequently stop receiving updates. Even very simple widgets I’ve written myself as tests quickly start to ignore the “timeline” you provide them for updates. It’ll get fixed, but right now widgets are not working properly.

While not "fixed" yet, my clock and weather widgets seem to be much more "on time" than in previous betas.

my weather and calendar widgets seem to (finally) be refreshing quickly...
You're lucky. Mine work for a little while, then stop working, then start working for a bit, then stop. They seem to work best in the separate widget screen on iphone, and worst when embedded in the home screen (springboard). On iPad they seem to work a tad better than on iphone. for me at least.

It's not an issue with the clock, it's an issue affecting the widgets as a whole. There's obviously a problem that needs fixing, and thus as a beta TEST, we provided feedback on the feedback app, and they fix it. I wonder if everyone on here whinging about the clock have bothered to do so (Have seen a couple that stated they have, but not much more than that).
Definitely having the same problem with the widget not keeping the correct time. But, have reported it through the Feedback app. So hopefully, should be addressed. Understand that it's a beta so it's to be expected

It was in the Dev notes anyway, so they are looking into it.

Still a problem in iOS14 after release. 😐 My analog widget is 26-ish minutes ahead of my upper left clock. It synced at first, then lost sync. Changing the widget city to something else (even in the same timezone) and back again resynced. We'll see how long it holds.
