Screw it. I'm going to indulge in my purchase and keep my MP. After all, it's only money...

Good choice, the Mac Pro will last you a long time and you won't have to worry about losing money on it be selling it used. :)

Without having said it explicity briantology, I think what you are expressing is an embarrassment of riches. It's probably uncomfortable so you might not even be aware of it.

It's a common and natural feeling to have in a world with such extremes. I have experienced it myself.

Yes, your family bought you a very expensive machine, which is more than you need. But just think of it as being an extremely reliable machine which you can take good care of and use for a long time. Don't focus on the past. Just think of the good you can do for the world in your position, and that your Mac Pro is one of those tools.

freedom in your case could mean riches/mac pro :)

You can get a part-time job and pay for your own new LCD to go with it (it sounds like you're using older monitors that don't work so well?) and buy it with your own money. You won't feel the same guilt.

WTF?! Bob Dylan?! Hero?! I am so sure he is about to invent a longer-lasting light bulb or cure cancer with the MP.

While your response seems to mean the most to me, it's not completely accurate (because you're not me of course). It's not that I'm stinking rich and want to show it off, I'm actually not "rich" at all. But it sort of is kinda overwhelming when people see/hear about my MP and start awing, but in a good way I guess. And as for the monitors, they are actually brand new (19" VX924) and I paid for one of them myself, they just don't seem top of the line, but they work.

SOaB, this sucks. Though I said I'm going to keep my MP, I still don't know. Basically, I don't need all of the MP, as said before. But, as is probably true, it will retain a better value because it is much more upgradeable/salvageable in the future. As of right now, and for the next few years (assuming my comp. uses remain similar), I think an iMac or MBP would be best suited for me. For one, they have the right amount of power I would need (most likely). Two, a MBP would be nice because of portability, though I don't really need it at the time, and iMac would be nice for size. Three, built in AirPort and Bluetooth would come in handy when I'm back home and have to share the internet connection wirelessly, and I didn't configure my MP with AirPort and Bluetooth (sadly and regretted, but I needed my comp. before school). I really hate to say this, but I think the reason that I originally choose the MP over the iMac was the look (and of course more power, but I don't neccessarily need more of that right now). So as my situation remains unsolved, here is what it boils down to: I keep my MP and have it for however long it takes me to need something else. Or I could sell it and get an iMac or MBP to last me through college, then, if I needed to, I could get something more suited/expensive after college (not to mention there would probably be something better than the MP at this point). Another reason I choose the MP was because I had the future set in mind. I thought I would need it for after college (for video production, but that's not even my major, it's just for fun). I'm glad my major isn't in politics because I even have a hard time decided what I want to eat when I got to Taco Bell.
