I cant wait to get it and Im selling my iphone 5 about a week before the gs4 comes out.

Main reasons to getting it are the bigger screen, faster cpus and last but not least the android openness it has.

anyone one else divorcing there iphones?

My iPhone is jailbroken, so I see zero reasons to switch to Android, besides a bigger screen. I hate Samsung but the S4 is a pretty tempting handset for some reason. Hope the switch goes well.

I have been working with a few people that have gs3s and one person has the note 2 and after I finally opened up and started learning and using there phones at work got me to switch.

We heard a good song on the radio and one guy tagged it and then downloaded it from a web page, not even an app or anything and then in like 2 seconds blasted the song to like 3 other galaxy phones and they saved the mp3 right on the device.

I was just sitting there looking at my cell and shaking my head and I finally gave in and told them I will get the gs4 as soon as it comes out.

they are all selling there phones also(except for the kid with the note 2)and said they will teach me how to root it and install roms on it.

Why S4 over htc one?

mainly it not coming to Verizon and not being able to share with other galaxy phones and being able to use a sd card.

I will look at both phones before I pick one up but so far I am set on the gs4

Why S4 over htc one?

I really, really wanted to like the HTC One - but there are a few things that put me off it:

1. No Removable Battery/SD Card. I don't use the battery switching a whole lot on my GS3, but the SD Card is invaluable.

2. While I like the general design - I can't stand the huge speaker grills on the top and bottom of the display.

3. HTC is notorious for poor battery life.

4. While I'm not a huge modder, I do like flashing the occasional ROM here and there - HTC phones are a pain in the ass to unlock and get ready for rooting.

5. I've dropped my S3 a few times, and the back has gone flying off, which sounds horrifying, but it absorbs the shock and doesn't damage the chassis. I can't imagine an aluminium body would resist damage as much.

6. This could change once proper testing happens - but im not 100% sold on the Ultrapixel camera.

EDIT:

7. I love the new camera features in the S4.

I'm almost sure my next phone will be the s4 also. Just waiting on reviews to be certain.

As I get over how gorgeous the htc one is I'm becoming more and more convinced that it's a pass. I merely fell for its looks.

Samsung is adding so much new features with each new Touchwiz version that it worries me how long they will take for updates. I like those features, like multi window, but if they keep and keep adding more and more it seems they will take longer to update the phone to newer versions of android.

Honestly though touch wiz is doing things even stock android doesn't have.

I personally like the One a lot better, but if you're on Verizon you don't really have any other choice.

Maybe.

The point being, though, that it's not a bad thing that samsung is adding additional features on top of android.

That's fair but which of the additional features are selling you on the S4 over the One? Some of the features are cool but they're more novelty features to me and won't be used often. Are they really deciding factors to you more so than the built quality and design?

I find the idea of buying any product sight unseen extremely odd. Couldn't you wait until they're actually released, so you can look at one and hold it in your hand before making up your mind about it?

I have compared the 2 phones for hours on the web.

the gs4 has hands down better hardware guts and it does not use on screen keys to take up real estate and also has a removable battery and an sd slot.

lets not forget that its a 4mp vs 13 mp camera also.

I am planning a trip to vegas soon and will bring an extra battery with me so I don't have to worry about the phone dying on me either, these are all my reasons for picking the gs4 over the htc one and I am sure others are in my same boat also.

Well if its anything like the gs3 I am sold sight unseen as I have been suffering working with others at my work that use that phone and pretty much saw first hand what Iv been missing out on for the last 3-4 months.

It looks like a slightly bigger version of the gs3 and I am sold on it!!!

Just keep in mind that MP alone is not a great barometer of quality when looking at cameras. There is a lot more going on then just image / file size (which is mostly what that translates to) along with the level of information in an image. Not saying its a bad camera but I wouldn't rule out other brands based on that alone. There's aperture, shutter speed, and even sensor quality that can make a huge difference.

I'm not altogether sold on the Ultra pixel buzz word either but understand that smaller pixels capture less light which may impact images in different ways. I personally am very interested in a side by side comparison of the GS4 camera and the HTC One camera to see how they stack up. Already the HTC One has shown some varying quality issues but has also managed to take some better low light photos edging out the iPhone 5 and earlier Galaxy models.
