With iOS9 Airdrop seems to be improved between iOS devices (used to be crap) in terms of both speed and reliability. But I still have to test it with an el Capitan Mac. I guess your problem could be on the Mac side, since it still runs Yosemite, which had a very buggy implementation.

Ps: you gotta love when somebody comes and answers: "perfect for me!" When the internet is litterary filled with people who have problems with Airdrop.

Well, happy customers are less likely to come complain. So of course you're going to be able to find more people having problems on forums than not, it's how they're set up. The Internet is filled with complainers, but that doesn't mean that a majority are having issues.

I just upgraded to a Late 2013 Retina MBP and it's perfectly fine with AirDrop and the like.

Airdrop between mac and iphone continues to work without any problem... but now it has stopped working between iphones. Software and cloud services of Apple these days have become a joke..

Airdrop is terribly unreliable. iOS 9.2 seems to have fixed it some how because for the first time ever, I was able to airdrop between my Mac and iPhone. iPad to Mac, mostly fine. Mac to Mac.. usually ok, iPhone to iPad Ok, but iPhone to Mac, never worked. This was with two different iPhone 5's and two different MacBooks.
