Because web browsing on Windows Phone currently is severely lacking.. Web browser crashes, certain sites loading etc. It's a known issue and why Microsoft is working on Project Spartan (new web browser) for wph 10. Even web browsing on my Blackberry Classic is currently superior to my two wp 8.1 devices.

I also use BlackBerry (Passport), my wife has the Classic.

Could you describe your experience with current WP 8.1 platform a bit? Besides of that browser issue, of course.

I am asking you, because being a BlackBerry supporter, I still want to evaluate a plan B (should BB stop manufacturing those phones one day).

Windows phone (and later Windows 10 phone) seem to be the logical choice, since I'm just not into getting yet another iPhone again and I also dislike Android vendors for dropping support for any device generation less than n-1.

I'm waiting and hoping MS does introduce some flagship phones once windows 10 comes out. I am happy with the Lumia 830, even though it is for my kids, I frequently pop my sim in it :D

Your wish sir is their command:::

Even with how desperate Microsoft is in gaining some mobile traction, we wonder why we’ve seen such a long delay in the company launching another Lumia flagship. Surely it does make sense for the company to finalize Windows 10 Mobile, and have this flagship become the first device to support it. The problem is when the market has waited for more than a year, and when it seems there is still more to wait.

New leaks show us the possible specs of two Microsoft flagship Lumias to come, and judging by some recent rumors, we believe these are the Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL. When it comes to the Lumia 940 we see a:

– 5.2-inch display (2560×1440)
– 3GB RAM
– 32GB of internal storage
– 20 MP rear camera
– 3000mAh battery

And in the case of the larger Lumia 940 XL phablet, we see a:

– 5.7-inch display (2560×1440)
– 3GB RAM
– 32GB of internal storage
– 20 MP rear camera
– 3300mAh battery
– Snapdragon 808

It’s hard to predict how early we may see these products ready for a launch, but judging by the summer promise of Windows 10, that’s our best bet.

Well i hope for ONCE those come to T-Mobile , though id prefer the smaller one. All they said they will get is the 640 which still isnt in stores. Hec if they would get the 830 id buy that over those more expensive ones.

Thanks for sharing! I too am excited about Window Phone 10 and what Microsoft brings out next. I would consider switching if I decide to go Surface Pro / Lumia phone route. Would need to be able to run iOS/Android apps though.

Well it looks like in windows 10, you will indeed have the opportunity to run android apps.

I always loved the Lumia form factor too, just the main thing holding me back is simply that the developers are not supporting their devices as avidly as iOS and Android.

That has been MS greatest failing in the smartphone market imho.

I still dig my Lumia 930. I even customised it with the green faceplate (as I bought the black version) ..... However the lack of Google App Support in particular is the major issue for me if I was to ever to decide to use it fully.

You re lucky you could get one. That one was an exclusive to Verizon here and another reason Windows irks me by having exclusives on their better phones. I really wanted the 930 and id like to have the 830 neither of which i can get for my carrier.

I do think Windows could make some noise if all carriers could get their phones and they got their asses in gear and were quicker with updates. I think that would be appreciated and even sway some Android people while they are slow to get the latest updates to devics. Especially if they are going to allow Android apps on their phones.

I went to a Microsoft store a couple weeks ago and I must say that I was very impressed with their offerings. I was surprised to find that the Surface was very lite and very responsive. I don't know why but I expected it to be heavier.

The phones also surprised me in how smooth and intuitive the interface was. While I own many iOS apps I can live without if need be. At this point I'm waiting to see what the iPhone 6S is going to be like. I guess at this point I'm 50-50 as to which phone I'll get this fall.

It's just so sad that every MS store I see is so damn empty (with employees outnumbering customers).

And they got very cool stuff, usually more exciting stuff than what Apple carries.

Not in my area. It is consistently packed. Not Apple Store packed but surprised to see it has a good amount of customers every time I walk in or by it. I enjoy the experience as well.

If there is a 930 successor that can come to ATT that can run Android apps, sign me up!

The one in Boston seems pretty busy. I've been there at times and its not packed to be sure, but then I've been to my local apple store right across the street from the MS store and it was not packed either. Some days both are, other days they're not.

Disclaimer: I've not been in either for a few months, so I don't have current information, i.e., apple watch traffic :)

I have used Windows Phone 8.1 on several handsets. Lumia 520, 635, 928 and I'm sure I'm forgetting one. The web browser would have issues loading, correctly loading or just flat out crashing on a regular basis. I really liked it other then that and the lack of apps.

My Blackberry Classic's web browser is a joy to use. Every site I've tried has worked great and loads fast. For app selection I have access to Blackberry App World, Amazon Store and most apks have just worked for me via Googling them. The whole OS is fluid and just works. I would have went with the Passport if Verizon would carry it but I have no regrets with the classic. Great device! Build is amazing, wireless charging is a joy to use. I bought several $10 Qi charging pads for bedroom, living room etc.

Using a 830 on daily basis and so far no regrets. I do miss some apps I had on Android and iPhone, but over I'm ok!

I'm leaning towards selling my IP6+ this summer, so if I do that, I'll be using the 830 as my daily phone for a few months. Getting the 830 as a family phone has not worked out as well as I thought it would as well.

I got a terrific deal on a Lumia ICON and really enjoyed it minus one issue that I cannot get around .. a lack of chromecast app for non youtube streaming. Microsoft has their own service but it requires you to beam the entire screen, rendering it useless while streaming. If they can find a solution to that its a winner.
